Old growth temperate rainforest, Keith River Road, the Tarkine, northwest Tasmania. The trees are Myrtle Beeches (Nothofagus Cunninghamii). View On Black
They are clearfelling this forest for woodchips. In fact, the stand we were trying to see on this drive was gone when we got there (our notes were five years old). It's very wrong.
I find rainforest a very difficult subject. A fantastic sight when you are there can turn into a mass of confusing detail in the corresponding 2-d image. I put these strong features in the foreground in an attempt to get some depth into the scene. Fog would have been ideal, but I wasn't so blessed. I think the pan crop also helps to reduce unnecessary detail, but I am not sure about the framing on the left side. I included as much of the background as I had to the left of the tree, but perhaps it is not enough and I should have cropped in a bit. Sky was overcast which I think works better than the full sun I had to deal with last time I tried a shot like this.
We were back in Tassie over the long weekend, and without internet access, so this is the first of a few catch-up uploads

My dear wife proves to have a wide array of props for photo projects. I raided her embroidery kit for this one.
The photo is a blend of three images combined using the basic HDR software supplied with my camera. A 12mm extension tube was also used. It was lit through a large window with a homemade reflector used to reduce shadow on the left. Photoshop was used to soften the image
Our newly painted patio table...it has gone from natural wood to royal blue to red in the last 2 years...you would think my husband likes to paint!!
Three handmade lampwork glass beads, which I've strung on a bit of ribbon. Each bead has a couple of small pieces of gold leaf in it. No particular reason for this image really, I just liked the colours. The background is a milk jug from the 1920s, again just for the colour.
The Manasquan Reservoir is a source of water for municipalities and utilities. The Reservoir is also a natural setting for recreational activities and outdoor pursuits. The 770-acre Reservoir is part of a larger 1,204 acre site that include woods and wetlands, a 5-mile perimeter trail, fishing and boating areas, and a Visitor Center.
Location : Nelson Bay, Dolphin watch.
I supposed to capture dolphins, but I guess I wasn't so lucky this time, instead i captured these three amigos... lol :))
Look, I like pace shots, ok? Between Three Forks and Willow Creek there's a pretty great road for this sort of thing, and the power was definitely cooperative. Huge thanks to Dave A. for the expert driving.
Oh yeah, there's video of this chase, too: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdwv8FXnbzc

There are many more in the NYC area, but the ones pictured here are just about the most popular ones giving access to Manhattan.
It's BMW bridges from right to left: Brooklyn, Manhattan and the Williamsburg

To be honest, I am not sure if this is actually the Three Sisters or not. It is an imposing height over the town of Canmore, Alberta

I was at a Cinco de Mayo thing yesterday and my eye quickly spyed these three lovey ladies. They where kind enough to share their beauty with my camera. In a City like L.A. full of beauty and life, it takes someone special to stand out and these three did.
With these three lovely ladies, I will surpass 2 million views officially. Thank you all very much. I look forward to visiting many of your streams for continued inspiration.
