A clear sky one morning on Three Sisters at sunrise. This is a cool set of peaks in the summer as you can get good light both at sunrise and sunset.
This statue is found in the south east corner of St. Stephen’s Green park. The statue was designed by Joseph Wackerle in bronze in 1956. It was a gift from the German people in thanks for Irish help to refugee children following World War II. Up to five hundred children found foster homes in Ireland in a project named Operation Shamrock.

HST 43319 awaits departure at the head of the 1S18 11:35 to Edinburgh Waverley, Class 91, 91125 awaits departure with an empty stock back to Neville Hill, Leeds runnings as 5Z11 11:03 Neville Hill TRSMD, then the new kid on the block and also my train back to Leeds, Azuma 800107 with 1D14 11:30 Leeds.
Now if I’d managed to blag a ride on the empty stock 91, we be back in Leeds an hour and half before the Azuma, the 91 was the last service up the ECML beyond Peterborough due to planned engineering work around Newark / Grantham the Azuma and following HST had a pleasant detour through Spalding, Lincoln and Gainsborough.
This was my first experience of an LNER Azuma, and in all honesty I don’t know what all the moans and groans are about, the seat reservation worked a treat, we had a standard class table, which aligned perfectly with the window, the ride was smooth and fast on electric and I hardly noticed the switch from electric to diesel and back. The seats, after 3 and a half hours were just fine, and on the plus side we arrived back in Leeds bang on time.

There has been much money spent on a new walking concept in Tasmania. Known as the Three Capes Walk. Rather than an A to B walk it is more about the experience of walking and the magnificent scenery it traverses. It comes at a price too this three night walk runs up to $500 AUD !! ( well out of my range ) but fortunately I went in to explore the new track for free !!!. The first part of the walk is a 'classical bushwalking experience' hugging the coastline from Stinking Bay through to Denmans Cove. This is a rough and overgrown track that I've walked before. Upon arrival at the cove very little had changed. A yellow buoy the only clue that boats bring in groups of hikers to start their 4 day experience. Some gentle steps leave the beach and the track proper then starts, winding uphill for some 4 kms before reaching the Surveyors Huts.
I've never seen anything quite like it before and was gobsmacked by the sheer enormity of the complex. Remembering everything had to be carried in by helicopter. There is an extensive decking that joins together the various sleeping huts and main communal lounge and kitchen areas. Also large water capturing tanks, toilet facilities and the Host Rangers Hut completes the complex.
The photo above shows the communal lounge room area all finished off in lovely wood with a lovely glimpse of Cape Raoul through the window
. The smell of the lovely new wood was amazing and it felt so nice to be in there having a peek and a cheeky photo whilst the ranger was down at Denmans Cove to meet a party of new hikers. Each day this complex hosts a maximum of 48 persons per day. There are three seperate hut complexes to cater for hikers during their 4 day experience.
I then walked on to Arthurs Peak and hung out for a couple of hours enjoying the extensive views across to Crescent Bay, Cape Raoul and Port Arthur.

A nice round walk today from Flash to the gorgeous Three Shires Head. A bit muddy in parts and the legs are aching a bit. We both earned the coffee and cake at Baslow on the way home. Didn't have the tripod for this shot, just rested it on my bag and it worked out ok. If you have never been to this place its worth a visit. Not the most accessible place and probably best to avoid weekends, bank hols etc.
