Those of you who follow me regularly know that I love light painting photography with my lensball. This is for me a fun and exciting moment of abstract creation, there is no exact image, they all have something different and I love that. Playing with reflections and colored lights is just great for me!
I hope you like it!

Jasper is one of those places where you drive through with your mouth open in amazement. This image is one of many from the area when we visited for a few days in June last year. The following day, we were storm stayed by heavy wet snow. This morning, I was heartbroken to read that the town was evacuated with very little notice last night due to encroaching wildfires, which threatened to trap the residents and visitors. Even the Icefields Parkway, described as one of the most scenic routes in Canada, is affected by the fires.
I found this scene itself interesting because it showed the trees along the shore in different stages of collapse as the fast flowing river erodes the banks.
For those of us living on the Great Lakes, we experience streamers of heavy snow if cold winter air travels over the unfrozen waters. It has been a few years since the Lakes have seen much ice. I still have not seen any ice fishermen this year. Then it depends on where the winds blow if those streamers go right over our area. They tend to be localized. This harbour light at a marina on Georgian Bay is fading into the sugary shower of snow from one of those streamers going overhead. If the wind is calm, it is such a pretty sight.

One from last year that I've never done anything with for some reason, probably because it's a so well photographed scene that it doesn't have too much personal interest. That doesn't mean it's not beautiful, and if I was encouraged enough to photograph it in the first place there must have been something special going on.
It's that time of year again.....
I hope you like this one, as shot, of sleepy King Penguins. They are much like emperor penguins, but smaller in size, and are found on the sub-Antarctic Islands, South Georgia, and other similar islands of the region.
Greetings and many thanks for you comments. Have a warm and cosy weekend!

Itâs #batmanday2021 and Iâve been thinking about doing this shot for months! More like half a year since I found the charger for my moon⌠Anyways, since itâs #batmanday I thought I would reimagine that shot from the #batman1989 movie with my favorite #batwing which is the one from #batmantheanimatedseries . Those birds are not brushes, they are real :)
I took this with my best friend yesterday and she thought I was obsessed with birds because everytime I saw a bird in the sky, I screamed "bird" and busted out my camera. Hahaha :)
am I the only one who is bothered by the fact that Flickr messes up the dates?! OH WAIT. OH SNAP. I DID TAKE THIS YESTERDAY. HAHAHAHAHA. Nevermind. It usually does though :P
Goodnight everybody :)
Those of you that have known me a while will be aware of my 'history' with this particular species!!!!

Those we love donât go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed, so very dear. When you see a Cardinal, believe your loved one is near!

One of those days where you question the choices in life you made. It is a big day for me as I am finally off orientation. A day where I will no longer have the comfort of knowing that their is someone behind you every step of the way. Like the feeling of taking off those training wheels; using only your knowledge and your courage to ride forward. The fact that today was my last day, I would have wanted it to end with a bang, but that was not the case. I found myself questioning my decisions and all that I have worked so hard for. I felt so incompetent, and so stupid at the same time. These are the days that will challenge my fortitude and my desire to pursue this career. I am so nervous and unsure now, I feel like my confidence has rebounded deep within me, and finding it will take time.
This morning on Skye was one to remember. I was going to title this image 'My favorite morning', but I decided that was too specific. The changing light throughout the sunrise was special, yet as I remembered other sunrises on Skye; two gorgeous sunrises at The Old Man of Storr and several colourful sunrises in the Quiraing I could put this morning among my favorites but not THE favorite. Actually I'm hoping my favorite morning on Skye is one that has yet to happen. But here is some background on one of my favorite mornings on Skye . . .
As it was September, the alarm before sunrise was at a more sensible time than during my May visits to Skye. A glance out the window, where the skies seemed to have potential, had me in the car for a quick drive to the Quiraing. I enjoyed the drive from Kilmuir to the Quiraing parking with never seeing another car on the single lane road. Leaving the car in the empty parking area I headed along the path to begin setting up for sunrise. This was a very enjoyable morning at the Quiraing with the constantly changing views. The low clouds would move over the ridge hiding and then revealing various portions of the ridge, while simultaneously the light would shift highlighting sections of the ridge. I remained in place and enjoyed the morning from this location.
From my location at the Quiraing this was the view of the Trotternish Ridge, visible is Cnòc a Mhèrlich, Cleat while Bioda Buidhe is barely discernible in the cloud cover. In this image the shifting light is only highlighting the base of Cleat and portions of Cnòc a Mhèrlich. In the distance the sunlight can be seen highlighting the clouds that are hiding the Trotternish Ridge On the far right of the image is a curve of the Staffin-Uig road as it climbs the Trotternish Ridge.
Those interested in seeing how the shifting light changed that morning can view the Shifting Light Series album where the images are in chronologically order.
dedicated to those who give all to what our nation asks of them.... my hope is that the world will see how we could all live together. i put my faith in my GOD. HE is a just GOD, and knows the hearts of men. i also pray the good hearts of people around the world will find a comfort and a safe haven, no matter where they live . we should be taking care of each other, loving each other, but to do it we have to have trust, and we must feel secure, with freedom to live our lives. ... we will defend our freedoms with our lives if that is what it takes. ... make no mistake about it. and we treasure ... our just and honorable armed forces to protect us. thankyou so much. your sacrifice is not in vain... i only speak for me. but thankfully i have that right to do just that...!
Iceland is one of those places, you really just have to go see the place to believe it. The light is unlike anywhere I've been on the planet. I found long drawn out golden hours that seem to persist for many hours, eventually transcending into something more odd. And then when darkness finally comes, the sky lights up like a green flowing river with purple accents, as if the stars weren't amazing enough.
It's a rough life for a photographer; I was constantly awake as the photographing rarely gets bad, and I always felt the compulsive need to point my camera at something, everything, everywhere, and maximize my stay. Eventually I'd have to go home.
The fact is I could spend nearly a lifetime processing a one month trip to this place, but then there's always the fact that I could have gotten better light. But I'm splitting hairs on the difference between epic once in a lifetime shots, and amazing, spectacular shots that most amateurs would happily tout as one of the pinnacles of their photographic achievements.
Let's be real though, this is a picture of a green hill with black lava/sand as the foreground. And somehow it's beautiful, spectacular and majestic all at the same time. Why? Mostly because this place is unique, and it conjures ideas. Thoughts about how the lighting hit this area while being nearly completely overcast, and how the black came to be, and why the mountain is so green... Questions I cannot begin to answer. Science tries to explain such things, but the reality is, no one can explain creation to us as fact. No one knows how these things came to be, they just are. Nature is beautiful, the world is amazing, and it's important to take a moment in the day to appreciate these facts.
