Back in the days when you would think nothing of a 500 mile round day trip to Cornwall to photograph a pair of 'Skips' on china clay, EWS Class 67 Nos 67010 & 67020 power across Moorswater Viaduct heading 6C06 St. Blazey - Tavistock Junction loaded CDA wagons on 31st May 2002. Those pesky cupids are spreading infectious love. It's in the air, everywhere! But, you don't have to breathe it in! That is the message on the MadPea 'Love Is in the Air' Balloon Gift Box. It's dual purpose allows you to gift your friends a warning and tuck a little trinket inside at the same time!

The shiny prizes only come from the Shiny Cupids and are exclusive to the MadPea Cupid Catastrophe hunt. Hurry! After February 15th they will be gone forever!

Controversial opinion: Milky Way shots are boring. Here’s one anyway. While I was setting up a lady snuck out of the night right behind me and commented that it was so clear it even showed up on her phone.

Pretty sure this is the camera’s B&W Acros file run through the emulation, which is not ideally how you want to do it, so don’t be like me.

there are sometimes those odd days when know what? i just don't care about flare and burnout....this was one! the raw power of our sun, omnipotent but caressing, enfolding, burning.

Just seconds before the lighthouse lamp had given up its ghost in acknowledgement, you can just see the last tiny heatflicker at its centre.

It's not often you can get this close to north pier lighthouse Tynemouth from the north seaward rocks at low tide as it cuts you off so ferociously on the incoming. This one was worth the risk though. I was lucky to be able to get a handful of shots with rays coming behind and wrapping around the lighthouse as the sun moved gradually higher and to the right. This was taken with my little compact. No time for long exposure though :)

it was also only moments before my previous post "Where mermaids play" [http://www.flickr.com/photos/43060509@N03/6421739775/in/photostream/] -as once safe and further back I wanted to show the scene in total softness with the DSLR.

Ooh exciting news today.. I purchased my first ever dSLR!!! I bought a Canon 450d. I was tempted to go for a more high end camera but I'm still an amateur and I think it's probably a good idea to get familiar with the type of photography I want to pursue by such a versatile camera.. and then I can always upgrade! Plus it felt pretty good in my hands :D

Now would anyone have any advice for a decent lens?

Today was just one of those days that I am happy to put past me. It all began when my Mum tackled me first thing in the morning with the "what do you want to do with your life?" questions and the day went pretty much downhill from there..

I came across this awesome song and just have to share : )

Colours, shapes, clarity, beauty, light, dark

...... How Lucky you are if you are indeed viewing my image without distress, discomfort or concern.

If you haven't already done so please take time to view my other image which connects & pieces together the growing problem we often dont think about.

As those of you who read my interview know, I've been hitting eBay recently. My new (old) 50mm f/1.4 AIS came in yesterday, and I couldn't wait to try it. As I've said, the true reason that SLRs can make you better photographers isn't that they're inherently better, it's that they're harder. Using the D2X really did improve my focusing technique, for instance, because it's so easy to tell when you're doing something wrong. So, in that light, my newest lens not only doesn't zoom, it doesn't focus itself. And, for the time being, it doesn't meter on my camera, so I have to guess. But it's a beautiful performer as seen in the hands of fellow users like moufle, so I'm excited.

Of course, that means more eBaying. If anyone wants to buy my 50mm f/1.8D, the lens that took these pictures, I have it listed here for $33.33 (at the moment).

But that's not the bombshell. After all, I generally stopped using the f/1.8 after buying the Sigma 30mm f/1.4. But I'm also selling … my D70s!

Yes, my trusted partner, camera that I love, which has been a constant companion since June, is going on the auction block as well. The listing is here for $450, if you're interested. This is the camera that took all these photos (including this one).

Why? Well, simply put, it made me enough money to buy the forthcoming Nikon D200, which outclasses it in almost every way, including cost. It's a poignant good-bye, though -- I'll take 1/500th speed flash sync photos all week just because I can.

On a twenty-mile bicycle ride yesterday on the edge of the Florida Everglades I had the privilege of an encounter with this beautiful raptor perched high in a dead tree. It was quite curious as to what I was doing here in its territory and seemed brave and stoic in its home environment. I enjoyed its company for a little while and then went on my way, leaving it to its wonderful, carefree and natural life in the wild. Janet: "....no...."

Jack: "That's it! The LeChunk! We found it, we finally found it! Oh my GOD!"

Janet: "Calm down, they could hear us!"

Jack: "Our life's work, right in front of us! And....oh no...."

Janet: "What?"

Jack: "Those freaks with the spears leaving dynamite everywhere....Janet, this isn't good."

Janet: "Why would they want to blow up the ship in the first place? Doesn't make any sense...."

Jack: "We can't let them. This ship is an irreplaceable piece of history!"

Janet: "So what are we going to do, Jack? Stop them! We found the LeChunk, now let's go before it just gets worse!"

Jack: "Janet, irreplaceable history! Besides, look at these guys! Call it a hunch but I doubt they're gonna stop at blowing up the ship. I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to hurt some people."

Janet: "Jack, we're not superheroes."

Jack: "But we're the only ones who can lift a finger right now. C'mon, Janet. Something has to be done...."

One from last year. A much photographed location but I couldn't resist those clouds and that view of Plymouth.

Mount Edgcumbe House is the former home of the Earls of Mount Edgcumbe. It is set in Grade I Cornish Gardens within 865 acres of Country Park on the Rame Peninsula, South East Cornwall.

The House was first built in the 1500s and was restored after World War Two. It is jointly owned by Cornwall Council and Plymouth City Council and is one of the region’s most popular historic tourist destinations.

The formal gardens are found in the lower park and were created over 200 years ago in the English, French and Italian styles.

A folly comprising a deliberately ruined stone tower incorporating medieval architectural fragments from the churches of St George and St Lawrence in Stonehouse, stands to the south-east of the house, among mature specimen stone pines. The folly was constructed in 1747 as a picturesque feature in place of a navigation obelisk.

This Holiday Season I wish that each of my Flickr friends give and receive exactly what they wish for. I wish for you a peaceful heart, the company of those that cherish and appreciate you, joy in the belief that you can rise above your challenges and that the world will be illuminated by goodness and light. For all the problems that beset this fragile Earth....it is still incredibly beautiful. Enjoy this moment. Namaste

There where the waves shatter on the restless rocks

the clear light bursts and enacts its rose,

and the sea-circle shrinks to a cluster of buds,

to one drop of blue salt, falling.

O bright magnolia bursting in the foam,

magnetic transient whose death blooms

and vanishes--being, nothingness--forever:

broken salt, dazzling lurch of the sea.

You & I, Love, together we ratify the silence,

while the sea destroys its perpetual statues,

collapses its towers of wild speed and whiteness:

because in the weavings of those invisible fabrics,

galloping water, incessant sand,

we make the only permanent tenderness.

You know what Oscar says to those Erickson boy's last build?

"GARBAGE!" ;D

We're just trying to do our part in providing the world with another meme ;)

This is our second entry for our Iron Builder against the Erickson brothers, using the green spike piece. Also, this model is quite large and uses 300! of the green Iron Builder spikes. All elements are official Lego including the crushed can (which is the Lego valentines card rolled in between two wheels).

The headlights on the 458 do look a bit like Alien Eyes...something from a Sci-Fi movie.

Which is why I think it's one of the best looking Ferraris. I climbed up the back of my Avalanche to get this angle.

Well the weekend has landed and I'm looking forward to spending it with friends, family and this little guy. My favourite subject!

For those following my photography last summer, it consisted mostly of shooting this boy with my GoPro in the sea. Here's to more of those coming soon.... :)
