A set up shot for Studio 26 assignment 'exploring the colour red'. I have just read the book; a strange tale, I think aimed mainly at young teenagers but I still enjoyed it.
Having said I had nothing red, I then thought of Clive's red pot and 'grumpy old man' mug, put together with my book.

I Love Flowers - they're lovely in gardens and in vases. I grew up in a house without flowers, and that is why I think I love them so much. More than having flowers for myself, which I LOVE, I LOVE giving them. This bunch, picked up at the local farmers market this morning is going to my good friend Di when we go there for dinner tonight. Grown locally, bought locally, supporting local families. Adding for 365 a day late.

One of the most popular characters in Stranger Things is Barb. The hype only got more excessive when Lego gave out Barb figures at the Comic Con. Of course I didn't get one, but Barb should get her justice anyway. So here we are.
I actually thought it was part of the TBB contest rules that the Stranger Things scene can get turned around to reveal the Upside Down, so I carefully built the model around that concept.
It was quite a challenge and the model got very tall, but I'm really happy it worked out.

so know I must reveal 16 random things about me. 16?! Really?!?! I feel very self-centered... but I'll pull some outta my ass...
1. I drink too much. I love wine, beer and liqueur (don't shy away from any). I have one drink almost everyday. It's my way to unwind after the kids are in bed. And when I don't have kids... yikes.
2. I consider myself a "Jack of all trades, master of none." When I put my mind to it, I can do pretty much anything. I can rewire an entertainment system, build a computer, sew an outfit, cave dive, cook a gourmet meal, do the east coast swing, catch a large mouth bass... but I don't think I'm really great at any.
3. I have not befriended a women because I was attracted to her. Just as I would a man if I were attracted to him or vice versa. Like the saying goes, "If you play with fire, you're gonna get burnt." That's all I'll say about that.
4. I don't pamper myself. I go months without a hair cut. I don't get manicures or pedicures. I've never had a facial or spa treatment. I don't spend the money or time on myself. I just take care of myself... at home.
5. I love, love, love popcorn. I used to eat an entire bag every day after school. I limit the carbs today, but I will not watch a movie unless I have a bowl of buttery, salty popcorn on my lap.
6. Every time I go on vacation (even for just a weekend) I create a folder. I have to research on the area and have a game plan. I like to know where to go, how to get there and as much information about the place as possible. Anal... I know.
7. I won a Kareoke award a few years ago. It happened to be a song I knew by heart and sing in the shower all the time... so lots of practice. The drinks I had prior helped me to belt it out too. Good times.
8. My parents were very religious when I was young so we were at church often. I used to "speak in tongues", dance and sing my heart out every Sunday.
9. I have notebooks filled with poems, stories and just mind emptying writings. I keep them hidden.
10. There is not one food that I don't like. I love to try new foods and just haven't found one that I don't like. Snails, frog legs, gator tail, oysters... yummy.
11. I am very energetic, rarely serious and always looking for a laugh. I don't like wining, complaining or negativity. I believe life is what you make it. If you speak bad... well then, it's bad. Mind over matter... you can make yourself happy. =)
12. I used to have horrible menstrual cycles (sorry guys). I mean... in bed the first day, throwing up from the pain, shaking... worse than anyone I've known or even heard about. Now I'm on Mirena and haven't had a period in 14 months! Awesome!
13. I used to live in a small trailer in South Carolina out in the middle of nowhere. There were rats and opossums and other horrors all around. Luckily, it was only for about a year.
14. I smashed my middle finger in the door of a '65 Mustang when I was little. The nail came off and eventually I grew another, but it's bigger than the other one. There went my hand modeling career.
15. I am very sarcastic, a smart-ass and critical (in a joking way). I am never mean or hurtful to anyone... purposely.
16. I don't cry. When my girlfriends and I see a sappy movie and they start to cry... I feel bad and awkward. Sometimes I even laugh. I am emotional but not expressive.

Life seems to be running at about half speed for me these days. Before the pandemic, my work never seemed to be completed. I'd accomplish whatever I could, whatever was necessary each day, but never really got caught up. Tasks inevitably got pushed into the next day or days. A steady flow of new work ensured that there was never more than a momentary lull. All that's in the past now. Lately I'm adjusting to the new slower pace. What little work comes in is easily knocked out the same day. I just don't feel comfortable with the increasing down time. I'm losing my focus and sense of purpose. Good or bad, our work life tends to define us and our worlds revolve around it. The disruption on work life has brought a fundamental disruption of routine. This on top of the social upheaval of distancing. It's that layering effect where multiple facets of normal life ripped apart, compounded by the open-ended nature of the pandemic...not knowing hot it will play out and what form of conclusion is in store. Lots to consider here. and none of it really good. For the moment I'm grabbing at any straw of normalcy I can still reach. Photography is one outlet. I still find myself reacting to light and shadow. Dramatic end of day lighting in particular as it descends over a cemetery. Things like this seem even more meaningful now than ever. In this dreary old cemetery, I still have a sense of purpose.
I got so excited about getting snow today I pulled out one of my old hard drives and found this shot. Waking up was a little bit of let down. Not much snow on the ground and it looks like it already stopped...
Frida thought she had found a good hiding place. But when she realizes that she is being photographed, she immediately runs towards the photographer. So I had to be fast. Therefore, the image quality was not particularly good. But Frida is so sweet. ;-)

Back in Fontainebleau after years away and delighted to see our favourite patisseries are still doing fine and still absolutely delicious. I'm going to gain 50kg on this trip...
A long-time denizen of the eastern slope of Cougar Mountain, this big old 1971 Ford LTD has since been hauled out of the deep forest as scrap, likely deemed an "environmental hazard" by the parks department.
For many years the land yacht rested on the side of a forgotten logging road, abandoned after surrendering a few choice parts to its last owner. Still bearing the engine block and bumper stickers for the Index General Store and "I Love Lucy," but robbed of most of its front clip, I'm disheartened to see this sad Four-door hardtop gone for good.
This little thing has kept me sane during this extended lockdown... no doubt speaking to like minded people here.
