There’s a few things that come to mind when one mentions Kaikoura – sure, mountains, marine life and magic are a given, but there’s more to be said. With an abundance of hidden gems to discover, this rugged coastal town might very well be the South Island’s best kept secret.

Kaikoura is a coastal town on the South Island of New Zealand. It’s known for its abundant wildlife and its sperm whale population. The Kaikoura Peninsula Walkway winds from the town centre to lookout points at Point Kean.

I sometimes see things a little differently then some people, that being said, I liked this shot although it is not your ordinary autumn shot.

The summer of 87' is in full swing.

A man walks out of the local Friendly's after some fried clam strips and a root beer float with a big happy smile across his face. Another fills his tank with 79 cent per gallon petrol and grabs a pack of Winstons for a buck nineteen.

The Chrysler product in the street was the standard police vehicle for the era. Coming from AMC's radio is the Las Lobos cover of "La Bamba" followed by The Grateful Dead's "Touch of Grey",....on the same station. All this while a Boston & Maine bright blue EMD geep powers through New Hartford, NY ready to drop a lumber car by the station with New York, Susquehanna & Western train UT1.

A shot from 35 years ago and all these simple things roll through my mind as I look at it.

Tre udda saker i min bild (fast det finns säkert fler!). Odd one out (vet inte hur jag ska skriva den på svenska), udda nummer, och slutligen (och det viktigaste) udda sockor. Idag, söndag 21 mars, är det världsdagen för Downs syndrom. Ett sätt att visa sitt stöd är att ha udda sockor - rocka sockorna - under dagen. Here comes my contribution to fotosöndag's weekly challenge - odd.

Three odd things in my picture (though there's probably more!). Odd one out, odd number and finally (and most importantly) odd socks. Today, Sunday 21st March, is World Down Syndrome day. One way of showing support is to wear odd socks - rock your socks - for the day. Thanks to my family for modelling for me and for this wonderful cause!

Continuing my trip in NY, but things went really bad last Sunday. I have being robbed, cash, luggages, all is lost. I'm still lucky, a man came to me and proposed his help.
