7 Days of Shooting/Week #13/Art/Texture Tuesday

sometimes i am not sure ...

not sure if i am just as grateful for a faded flower

as when it was in it's full glory.

i am sure

with all certainty

that i am sincerely grateful

for all the beauty about as autumn settles in.

grateful for all of life's blessings.

. . .

most assuredly grateful

for kim klassen and her artistic textures

that inspire and allow us all to heighten our creativity ... xo

'Iconic Brands' ~ 7 Days of Shooting (Texture Tuesday)

Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo, make a comment or Fave it.

"Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does." James 1:23-25

Texture Tuesday - The Garden Party Edition

Kim Klassen Texture: Stained Linen

We still have snow on the ground and puddles of melting snow everywhere so I used this picture from last September for Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday. I used Kim's textures Warm Sun and Soft Shale.

This is one of my most favorite statues at The Huntington. The turtles are real and I love the reflection.

Kim Klassen textures: Felicity and Plaster Squared. Gradient layer, blending modes, and color burn applied.

Taken in natural light near window, winter morning sun.

Wonderfully flavorful oranges with quite a tough skin. Their name is appropriate. The color of the flesh resembles a ruby grapefruit.

for 7DoS: sadly, not in my garden - I should try to remedy that!

Too many wonderful flowers to photograph...this is another from my garden...this year they just keep coming it's fabulous...my mum always tells me to dig this one up as the leaves look like a sycamore tree !!! and each year I tell her no it's a beautiful purple flower....I think they are Japanese Anemone and are so pretty.

7DoSWeek #42 (w/b 23 April) Leading Lines

Lead our eyes into, through or out of your shots this week. Sweeping through or just straight to the point. Oh and if you have any chocolate left over, feel free to lead me to it :)

My maternal grandmother was Ukranian and she loved her garlic. She passed when I was still quite young, but the memories of the 'smell' of her house will never leave me. On a weekend away a few years ago we went to a restaurant we'd heard was quite good in a little village near where we were staying. The moment we walked in the door I was transported back through the years to the days of walking into my Gradma's house. The smell was there - it was intoxicating. Over time the smell had permeated everything - i think even the wallpaper in that little restaurant. Unfortunately the year after we were there it burnt down. As for my grandmother she ate garlic with everything - and most often raw. While I like it raw, I can only enjoy a little that way. Baked, broiled, bbq'd and in most things I cook.

Texture used : kk_touchof-1 and kk_touch

Worked on Hue/ Saturation and on Levels

Week #7 (w/b 23 August) Crossings - we are going to be crossing bridges, pedestrian crossings, stepping stones, jumping on the ferry to cross over to wherever you are going. Maybe you are lucky and your crossing a great ocean to go somewhere exotic. Whatever, just be careful and watch where you’re going!!
