My wife loves poppies and our garden seems to have been taken over by them!! Anyway, this little one was getting a good old battering by yesterday's rain!

You know fall is coming when you can start wearing cute fall clothes and shoes! This is my contribution to Texture Tuesdays and I used Kim Klassen's "nature's beauty" texture.

Journalling reads: You have always been really afraid of heights. But you would never admit that in front of Conor. When he headed off up the rope climbing frame you were quick to go right up behind him. You managed to climb all the way up to the first seating level and then you made yourself comfortable to watch Conor climb right to the top.

For Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday...the Dream-It editon. One layer of Dream-it! I applied this to a beach scene at Robert Moses State Park ocean beach; as kids, we never wanted the summer to end!
three layers, KK's shine, siena and finale.
I did this last week for TT, but it is the same for KK's Beyond Layers lesson b&w + color - I converted it to b&w and then masked the "Lady Jane" and the float back in.
I am a little late with this week's image for Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday. I missed last week completely. The challenge this week was gardening. My cousin grows this wisteria out on the swimming pool deck. I shot it with a Lensbaby Composer and Fisheye Optic.
Textures by Kim Klassen: Cinnamon & Trust
Focusing on the side panel of the candle lantern. Such lovely silhouettes.

7 Days of Shooting –
Week #16 (w/b 25 October) Graveyards/Cemeteries- Sometimes, we just need to go to places that are possibly considered morbid and even uncomfortable. However, there is no question that for wonderful moody shots graveyards can help us catch some wonderful history and even beauty through those old gravestones and elaborate sculptures. However, if you are like me you will not be taking any night shots!!
Texture Tuesday - Texture in photography emphasizes features and details, so the detail in the surface of the object(s) you are photographing should be the most important feature of the image.
This week the challenge was to choose a photo and some of Kim's awesome new LR presets and textures and 'have our way with them'! I experimented with four photos and myriad combinations - all of which I loved - but this one was my favourite...both with and without the quote!
The deets:
In LR:
cropped and adjusted highlights
applied kk_daysofold preset - adjusted tone curve and saturation
exported to PSE
In PSE:
one layer kk_lulu overlay blending mode @ 80%
one layer kk_2Bwarmly multiply blending mode @ 77%
watermarked & saved for web

Update: Though initially created for 2B, this photo will also be posted on Kim's Facebook for Texture Tuesday 4.6.13 to create healing hope for Kim and John
HDR, 3 shots -1,0+1, shot at f4, added texture, shot in vivid camera setting, then reduced the sat in photoshop, added a center spot light
7 Days of Shooting – Week #29 (w/b 22 January) Imitations
Things that are not the real thing eg. mannequins, dolls, chocolate bunnies, Monopoly money and so many other things.
There are a lot of fake things around. My notebook cover has a fake leather look, it is probably some sort of modern plastic, I really don't know
A wonderful afternoon in Roanoke, Virginia.
A perfect spring day for the Farmer's market and a bit of the Blues.
Playing for Change, as they do but also playing for Change in the World.
Spending time in the out of doors, listening to music while surrounded by many others that you have not met, yet all get along and enjoy what "the moment" has to offer. That's what music does.
It is the window to the soul. A way to connect and enjoy.
