for 7DoS: I'm not sure if this is a parent guarding a nest, or a large baby (see extra shot in comment box below) waiting to be fed?

Sweetgrass baskets were originally made to carry and store rice. The technique was brought to North America by enslaved Africans, who used this coil technique with other materials. In South Carolina they began to use sweetgrass, that the mundane became art. Sweetgrass baskets are beautiful, some are very large and complex, and even very old sweetgrass baskets smell fresh when touched.
7DoS "Tradition or Traditional" "Texture Tuesday"
for 7DoS: I was planning on going with symmetry as a balance idea for today, but when I was out walking this afternoon, I decided to jump up and balance on the edge of this bench seat. I guess standing on one leg would have required even more balance, but then the passing runner would have given me an even odder look ;) You may get to see my feet again this week

for 7DoS: I'm trying to avoid just using shots of my favourite wall this week, so when I spotted the top of this barrel when out walking today, I thought it could mean me putting off the wall for a day at least ;)
I guess using this as an ashtray is better than the ground, where most of the stubs end up :(
The last of red roses... this photo was made on Saturday (November 19 !!) when we were doing our garden/courtyard fall cleaning. But, of course, since no chore is complete without a few photos. hint: I have more!
I don't know how much longer these hardy Canadian Explorer beauties will hang on... but I will appreciate them while they last.

I'm not fond of the city. Occasionally I have to pass through one on my way to here or there and when this happens I do admire the enormity of the skyscrapers; I do appreciate their architectural value.

Texture Tuesday - Texture in photography emphasizes features and details, so the detail in the surface of the object(s) you are photographing should be the most important feature of the image.
the new flooring will be installed next week.
I sent the old linen window curtains out for cleaning - and then loosely hung one to see - Maybe I would want something new ? ! - but No, they're so soft - just right. I don't need anything new .
Day eight and we visited the Biltmore Estate before leaving the wonderful town of Asheville. We thought "go early, avoid the crowd" - Sunday morning and this place was really busy. We thought $60 each to go in was a bit pointy but it really was worth every cent. It is a magnificent place and the four hours we spent here hardly did it justice. The home of George Vandebilt family. Built as an escape from everyday life. You think???? Only downside was that I couldn't take pictures inside the house. But believe me when I say it is awesome. If you're in the area it is well worth a visit. The grounds and gardens are beautiful as well. Unlike a lot of these places you could imagine people living there. Filthy rotten rich people, but people nonetheless!!! We didn't even make the trip to the winery or farm or village!!! Stunning!
This is a mini whisk for making the perfect hot chocolate. I have the hot chocolate mix in the cupboard, unopened, and haven't used the whisk, yet!
Happy Texture Tuesday. The Japanese Maple started budding in March. I love seeing it bud.

Another for Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday Cafe and this weeks theme is Orange.

Used Kim Klassen's texture Sienna
The whole song lyrics are
Send me love that's soft
Let me know a love that's soft
Softer than a cloud
Or roses moist with rain
A child's gentle kiss
Make his love soft like this
And send me love that's warm
Let me know a love that's warm
Warmer than the sun
And sips of brandy wine
The white coals of a fire
So warm I'll never tire
Of how he touches me
Chuck Mangion
plain yogurt
granola
blackberries
with a sprinkling of warm sun*

shot for 7DOS, Texture Tuesday. Bought a set of 3 of these in varying lengths to charge my new phone. Having 3 means I can leave one in the office, one in my purse and the other in my travel bag... shot and posted a day late... Amazon purchase - best price and they deliver - who could ask for anything more?
Not much to see through my front window except colour. : )
"7 Days of Shooting" "Week #10" "Out My Window" "Texture Tuesday"
Texture Tuesday's challenge this week is to apply one layer of "Cracker Jack" texture by Kim Klassen. The cracks in this texture look like old oil paint cracking and peeling off of a canvas. So, I went with it and gave this portrait the effect of an oil painting. It underwent many versions to get to this result!
Happy Tuesday everyone!
“I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.”
― Brené Brown
The Museum of Pop Culture. A fusion of textures and myriad colors, MoPOP’s exterior conveys all the energy and fluidity of music. Three-thousand panels, made up of 21 thousand individually cut and shaped stainless steel and painted aluminum shingles, encase the outside of the building. Their individual finishes respond to different light conditions and appear to change when viewed from different angles, reminding audiences that music and culture is constantly evolving.
I would love to capture as many of Gehry's buildings as I can.
For six word story.
