King cake, Gâteau Roi

A cake eaten during Christmas time, until 6th January, with all the fruit you can think of. Inside you have raisins, pine nuts, walnuts, almonds and diced fruit. Outside, in a wheel format, there's cherries, orange peel, christallised/candied fruit, and chunks of sugar.

Catoctin Furnace is a favorite place for my family to take a break on drives northward. It is only about a 10 minute detour and a fascinating place to take a short walk. More about it at: www.nps.gov/cato/learn/historyculture/furnace.htm

I hate to admit that I remember this "money changer".

While in Floyd Virginia this past week I spotted this fine cash register at the back of the General Store. A General Store is also something you don't see often anymore where I am.

It brought back some pleasant memories of a less complicated system than we have today. It also reminder me that we didn't have to worry about the electricity going out. We could still use this "invention" and we knew how to count back change. The kids working in stores today don't have a clue when the lights go out.

A vintage pulley for Texture Tuesday which I applied a Kim Klassen preset and texture to.

I found this whiskey bottle when renovating my 100 year old house, including the old nail. I like its grunginess. I used textures: Silence and Sweetart by Kim Klassen

Today's Texture Tuesday theme for Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday is Let's Celebrate! Kim Klassen's awesome texture, "The Ladder" was applied.

Counting 19 more days til Christmas... but today is already almost over!
