This beautiful building, once a lockhouse and inn, is next to the lot where I have parked to go for a walk on the C&O Canal tow path for years. I think I was probably here first in about 1965 and I have visited regularly since I moved closer in 1978.

You choose one object and that same object must feature throughout the week within each of your images. On Sunday, the object must be identified and made clear as being included within this week’s theme!

We found this nice seashell on the beach after the storm with kids anther day. It was just a tiny bit open but kids wanted to see what was inside so they opened it up :) it was empty, of course, but I love the curvy patterns on the inner side. While browsing through the internet I found this great poem about an open seashell.
The Sea Shell
I have hidden inside a sea shell
but forgotten in which.
Now daily I dive,
filtering the sea through my fingers,
to find myself.
Sometimes I think
a giant fish has swallowed me.
Looking for it everywhere I want to make sure
it will get me completely.
The sea-bed attracts me, and
I’m repelled by millions
of sea shells that all look alike.
Help, I am one of them.
If only I knew, which.
How often I’ve gone straight up
to one of them, saying: That’s me.
Only, when I prised it open
it was empty.

I don't mind some nice street graffiti or great wall art but when it comes to a little bit of hooliganism - not for me!!

I missed doing an edit for Texture Tuesday last week so had a play this evening on a photo taken last year. Hopefully our summer comes soon, I miss the warmth. Also playing with ideas for Beyond Layers :-)

Another closeup of the rya rug which hangs over my bed. As long as I have had the rug I have been fascinated by the way the appearance of colors change depending on which colors they are paired with. In this sample the red paired with its complement, green, looks darker and a tiny bit bluer to me than the red paired with orange. How does it look to your eyes?

The theme for Texture Tuesday is gratitude. I am grateful for having met Kelly almost 10 years ago and having him share my life and love. I am a lucky woman :-) I used Kim Klassen's " Celine" texture after darkening it using curves

I hate to admit that I remember this "money changer".
While in Floyd Virginia this past week I spotted this fine cash register at the back of the General Store. A General Store is also something you don't see often anymore where I am.
It brought back some pleasant memories of a less complicated system than we have today. It also reminder me that we didn't have to worry about the electricity going out. We could still use this "invention" and we knew how to count back change. The kids working in stores today don't have a clue when the lights go out.
Seaglass gets harder and harder to find - I don't know if I'll ever fill this jar! For Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday using "red" and "now" textures.

Days of Shooting – Week 6 (w/b 13th August) In The Garden
Hopefully, we all get some lovely warm weather for our theme of this week! We can show off the flowers, plants, trees and whatever else is growing in the garden and all those lovely garden decorations and wherever! If it is in the garden we want to see it!!
Many of the things we are surrounded with are held together with nails and/or screws. Show us some nails or screws, either loose or in use.

7 Days of Shooting – Week #16 (w/b 23 October) If I Had Time I’d - travel the world or maybe just get up and go to the gym. We all live busy lives but if we just had a little time to do whatever we wanted to, what would that be …. a walk along the beach, a cup of coffee or maybe that Caribbean cruise!! Imagination is allowed for this week!!

King cake, Gâteau Roi
A cake eaten during Christmas time, until 6th January, with all the fruit you can think of. Inside you have raisins, pine nuts, walnuts, almonds and diced fruit. Outside, in a wheel format, there's cherries, orange peel, christallised/candied fruit, and chunks of sugar.
