Days of Shooting – Week 11 (w/b 17th September) Shoes: We all wear them and whether they are your running shoes, walking shoes or boots, cycling shoes or your ballet shoes then let’s see what we wear on our feet. It’s time to get your Jimmy Choos or your Christian Louboutin out of the wardrobe and if preferred someone else’s shoes!
I hate to admit that I remember this "money changer".
While in Floyd Virginia this past week I spotted this fine cash register at the back of the General Store. A General Store is also something you don't see often anymore where I am.
It brought back some pleasant memories of a less complicated system than we have today. It also reminder me that we didn't have to worry about the electricity going out. We could still use this "invention" and we knew how to count back change. The kids working in stores today don't have a clue when the lights go out.
I had been wearing my garden gloves whilst doing my DIY!! Ouch, I made a lovely deep cut on my finger with a saw!!

"7 Days of Shooting" "Week #36" "Chaos" "Texture Tuesday"...plants overgrowing everything..a little chaotic?
In Portugal, tradition called for people to leave their shoes by the chimney during the night (if you don't have a fireplace, the kitchen will do). In the morning, children wake up early and run to the chimney to see what they got from Father Christmas.
I visited friends in Wiltshire. During the day we went to a village show which was great fun as it is so different from my usual activities. Disappointing for this rider that his horse clipped one of the poles in the show-jumping competition & left it at an angle - but useful for my photo themes!
TMSH "don't do it" - but the horse did!
MSH "lopsided"
From my archives for 7DOS texture - horse & rider both with "headgear", & contrasting textures of the jump, trees etc.
I know it's spring...but it's cold and rainy here and I was looking for something else and I came across my last Snowy Owl shot, which I never posted..so he wanted to come and say "goodbye", give a bit of sound advice, and tell you that if the timing is right, he hopes to see you again next year...I miss these amazing raptors already...
For Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday the Word edition. The photo must contain words - either in the shot or added during processing. I used Kim's textures Soft Shale and Love.
Not sure if this will really work for Texture Tuesday's theme....the theme is two. There are only two leaves in focus here, so that is what I was thinking. I used Kim Klassen's Mayzee, Chamomile, and Cracked Up Textures. Have a great Tuesday.
A pair of nail clippers and tweezers - instruments of beauty well for some people!

London on a grey, misty day.
100 Pictures #24 "opening"
From my archives for 7DOS texture.
One of my earliest memories. On the radio one day we heard that a bus had jumped across the gap as Tower Bridge started to open. I'd never been there (we lived in the suburbs) so the next day my lovely mum took me to London just to see the bridge. To my huge excitement we saw the bridge open while we were there. Of course, it's easier to see this now as a website lists the times when the bridge is due to open. The story of the bus is at
I'm doing much better again! Thank you so much for your emails and well wishes. Your warmth and love enters our home, our hearts, and makes us tear, in a very good sentimental way. We are touched by you.
I visited my vet on Monday and she does not conclude that I'm allergic to either of my medications, Tramadol and Baytril. She says I have a contact allergy on my skin. What caused it through contact is a very big mystery. The only thing different and new is that a mouse is still in our house since the night before my surgery. (Maybe tonight it will enter the mouse-house!) Otherwise, there is no infection inside either ear, thankfully. Only the outer skin of my ears is irritated pink by an angry rash, as the vet called it. The problem should clear in a few more days with the help of an ointment, and the vet will examine my ears again when I get my 24 metal staple stitches removed in one more week.
Here I was on Monday, resting in bed, and missing my numerous long walks and playmates. But sleep heals, so sleep it is.
Goodnight friends,
Love,
Vivi
For Texture Tuesday. Thank you Kim Klassen for this extremely beautiful new texture "Shades of November."
"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary-wise; what it is it wouldn't be, and what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?" ~ Alice, "Alice in Wonderland"
Eat a few of this little guy's cousin and you could be visiting the land of "FUBAR" just like Alice, very, very soon!

The capstone of the Allegheny Mountains is this beautiful sandstone called Tuscarora Sandstone. I love getting out of the city to places where the bones of the earth are visible. The real world is healing in a way that nothing manufactured can match.

In the midst of our darkest moments there is the potential to lose all hope but hang on because one day the veil of darkness will lift and the light will come shining through to reveal a beauty that you could not have imagined.
So it is with this image, the original in the comments is awful but I knew the form of the swans was so beautiful and elegant and if I could get rid of the darkness and noise the beauty of their form would come through.
Our lives are like that, sometimes the beauty of who we truly are is so buried by the busyness, brokenness and sin of our lives that our true form is hidden, but once revealed we have so much more life to offer to those around us.
May we all be freed from those dark places that desire to keep us captive.
Thanks to a good friend and contact I'm using this photo - that I took last week - for today's Theme. I've brightened it up to give more emphasis to the differing textures!

Many of the things we are surrounded with are held together with nails and/or screws. Show us some nails or screws, either loose or in use.

7 Days of Shooting – Week #16 (w/b 23 October) If I Had Time I’d - travel the world or maybe just get up and go to the gym. We all live busy lives but if we just had a little time to do whatever we wanted to, what would that be …. a walk along the beach, a cup of coffee or maybe that Caribbean cruise!! Imagination is allowed for this week!!

I would spend more time walking the jetty, looking into the shop and stopping for a coffee or to while watching the day go by
This was a drive-by shooting (I wasn't driving). I saw this tree all by itself from the highway and tried to capture it, therefore the blur! (Kim Klassen texture)

Photo trip to the Lonaconing Silk Mill, also referred to as the Klotz Throwing Company, is the last intact silk mill in the United States. It is located in Lonaconing, Maryland within the National Lonaconing Historic District and the site was nominated by the George’s Creek Watershed Association for the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s list of America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places.
I have always had a fascination with diners. I love the feel of them, the smell of them and of course the food. The price is always right and without a doubt you will always find someone to talk to.
Recently there was an article in the North Shore Magazine about ten diners in my area. I have taken the challenge to try each and every one of them and report back to you as I do.
So today I'm starting my "Diner Tour", beginning with my favorite diner. I visit the Agawam diner frequently I must say, and it feels like home. I know all the waitresses and they bring my tea as soon as I sit down. Then there is Andy at the cash register. He is old and grumpy and is part owner. He doesn't know that we are on to him and that we enjoy his grumpy attitude. He always asks if "we are looking for a seat". When we say yes, he tells us that "there is one available next to the dumpster and we should take that."
True North Shore natives know The Agawam Diner like their grandmother's kitchen. Drive by here most days and the parking lot is full, often with a line of people snaking out the door. The iconic stainless-steel prefab was built in 1954 by the Fodero Dining Car Company of New Jersey, and it remains as authentic as the Agawam's extensive menu of tried and true diner staples. But whatever you eat, save room for pie. Especially the Coconut Cream (my favorite), the Crisco crust, custard and coconut flakes and a snowy pile of Dream Whip on top, you will feel the addiction coming on. Go here for an authentic diner experience, where the towners talk, waitresses know what the regulars want, and the food is the very definition of a diner.
