texture tuesday
the crackerjack edition : )
This pony in the horse boarding pen was tossing her head up and down. The ponies all seemed to get quite agitated before competing. It seemed a wild and rather dangerous 'sport'.

A shot from earlier this year for 7DoS Texture Tuesday - animals / birds theme.

and is joining the texture tuesday party at kim's café!
for 7DoS: I confess I was not feeling sad/fed up when I saw this on the dessert menu ... and I definitely wasn't after I'd eaten it ... but if I hit a grey day and need to cheer myself up I can look at this photo and smile at the memory. A bonus is, it will be calorie free that way ;)
Raining when we arrived. Fortunately it didn't rain on our Sunset cruise on "Set Sail at the yachtie"

My second son, the viola player, auditioned for and got into the Middle School All County Orchestra.
Playing together with other instruments is a lot harder than playing a solo and keeping in time is an essential part of that. Metronomes are very useful tools in helping a student keep time in music. :)
for 7DoS: some of the petals and leaves, that dropped off into the vase of water, from the dead flowers.
found some Meer Cat at an out of the way Zoo in Tasmania, love how they are always watching

For Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday - on a Wednesday.
I couldn't think of a title this morning so I "stole" the name of one of the textures I used :) The other texture Is "Stained Linen", both from Kim Klassen.
I love my golf and accompanied by my golf buddy we are due to tee off just after midday! It's cold and very windy but - for the moment - it is not raining, my fingers are crossed!! Perfect weather for a links course, ugh!!

for 7DoS: I think I have a few shots suitable for this week's theme, from my trip, but while I try and get organised, here's one I took before I left.
Well, I did manage to get a round of golf this morning when the weather wasn't at all bad! This afternoon, it poured and poured and is still pouring down!!
Remember to repair those pitch marks on the greens!!

7 Days of Shooting/Week #52/Your Town/Texture Tuesday
Loanhead Children's Gala Day was established in 1904 and is the oldest event of its kind in the district. The main event is held on the fourth Saturday in June with a programme of activities leading up to it, including a fancy dress parade, sports and entertainments. The Crowning Ceremony itself is held at Fountain Green in the centre of town – the Queen is accompanied by attendants including a herald, champion and ladies and gentlemen in waiting. It’s a tradition that all the Court attendants should decorate their houses – the best decorated receive prizes. The coronation is followed by the Grand Procession with massed bands, wreath-laying at the War Memorial and in the afternoon there’s a programme of entertainment in the Memorial Park.

For Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday - The Aurora eDition.
I used Kim's Aurora (inverted) and Soft Shale textures.
The Pythagoreans acknowledged number 6 to be the first perfect number.
In mathematics a perfect number is when all the numbers divisors (excluding the number itself) are added, the sum equals the number itself. 1+2+3=6
In addition when including the number itself and dividing by two the result is the number itself. (1+2+3+6)/2 = 6
Perfect numbers are rare. The Ancient Greeks recognized four perfect numbers: 6 – 28 – 496 – 8,128. Throughout history perfect numbers have fascinated mathematicians and more perfect numbers have been discovered.
The number 6 is a symbol of completeness.
Number 6 symbolizes beauty and high ideals.
It goes without saying; I live at number six.
For Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday!
I was visiting my sister last week...she's an avid quilter and has some modern sewing equipment so I was very happy when I went upstairs and saw this "old beauty" on display. Fortunately, I had my camera in hand :)
I used two of Kim's textures for this image: Empty Page on Multiply at 78% and Loretta on Soft Light at 100%
And bonus ant.
At the Sunspace Cafe in Doonan, Queensland.

Not really a tree, this is all that remains of my Olive tree :( I forgot to protect it when winter suddenly came ! I was so happy to have a real big Olive tree and now all i have is this piece of bark.
I think it is a beautiful piece so it's NOT for the fire place !!

7 Days of Shooting – Week #40 (w/b 9 April) Begins With The Letter D
Back to the alphabet, for this week! The letter D must represent your subject … dogs, dolls, damaged, dancing you get the idea but don’t forget the donuts!!
Flickr Lounge: Textures...some rust and a touch of background texture from Topaz.
7DOS: Based on...poem -
A vine, deep rich dark green
rising up from the earth
living color against the sooted
coated rust of the bricks,
three story building, caught in shadows
of larger ones
a single string, strand of color
living green
rising up the drainpipe, old
oxidized metal
tints of aqua, or aged copper alloy
stark in contrast, to the vine
growing skyward, out of the dark
living tissue against the grayness
the unnatural state
of the parking lot, the shadows
in the center of the city
living plant, growing
hopeful

I have a lot more pastels then i knew :)
Love this scarf that belonged to my Mom, it has amazing soft pastel colours and of course memories.
The softness comes from using f/1,8

Trying something different, I know I mostly have everything in the photo but I think showing just a part of your still life makes it a stronger shot .
Would love to hear what you think of this composition, would more space around the bottles be better ?
Let me know, I'm always willing to learn.
I'm sure that in LR I could have made this look even better, I'm working on it :)
Textures used : maytime 0405 and canvasbackmagic both by Kim Klassen, thanks again Kim !
I need to make a folder of my favourite textures by you !

I wondered about this being vibrant enough, so looked up the definition of vibrant. One definition was 'pulsating with vigor and energy'. Couldn't argue with that!
Texture Tuesday - just a flower image - used 4 of Kim's textures sweet tart, charmed, deep sigh and canvas grunged. I was going to stop at the first two but I felt like it still needed something and deep sigh was just what it needed. word art is by Sue Cummings.
In Spanish, the word sombrero means any hat with a brim, such as the traditional sombrero cordobés from Cordoba, Spain. It derives from the Spanish word sombra, meaning "shade" or "shadow"; thus a literal English translation would be "shade maker".

For Kim Klassen's "Texture Tuesday"!
I used two of Kim's textures on this image. One layer of "Just Stitched" (which inspired my title lol) on Soft Light at 100%; one layer of "Stained Linen" on Soft Light at 91%, and a -75 Saturation...
Maybe I'm spending too much time on the computer but the shadows remind me of Scrooge and the Ghost of Christmas Past! :)

A couple of colourful scarves I bought this winter. They brighten up my navy coat nicely.
Found this today, figured out what it was with a little bit of help from my husband and a googled version of a 1914 book. Can you guess it too?

Besides Laguna Woods Village the only residential entities in the city of Laguna Woods are an apartment building next door and The Regency, the senior living community where I live... and where I take my pictures... so you probably already have a good idea of "My Town"! I know you've seen the Courtyard before! 9-)))
