The Old Parish Church probably dates from around the 12th century and was in use until the 1830s. During this long period the form of worship changed from Roman Catholic to Protestant (Presbyterian) as a consequence of the Reformation in 1560. During the 13th century the local monks held the church solely for their own use.

We slowly had to make our way out of the parking area, as the bison were crashing the party...so to speak. :)

I almost got a tongue shot on this one...just not fast enough.

Struggled a bit with this one until I saw this in the bathroom...

Days of Shooting – Week 8 (w/b 27th August) Vintage

The wine connoisseurs amongst us can show off their treasured bottles of wine or you may have something that is years old, which you have treasured with great care. Old and old fashioned is going to be very much up to date for this week.

When at college, many years ago, I spent some time studying American history. I was moved to tears on many occasions by the words of Sitting Bull as I read about the history of the American Indian. One of my favourite books from that time is 'Bury My heart at Wounded Knee' by Dee Brown.

for 7DoS: When I took this shot, I thought I would use it for B&W Wednesday but I felt that the little grid gets lost in a B&W conversion. Luckily the wall is textured, so I've decided to use it today instead.

"If I Had Time I'd" - Texture Tuesday - 7 Days of Shooting Week #16

Although I used my blog address to link in to Kim's Texture Tuesday, after working my way through some of the participant's list, I realize there are a lot of Flickr participants as well!

My contribution is of a Red Bud tree. One of my favorite Spring trees. Used grey day, just golden, brushed linen and scratches from Kim's textures. A couple layers of Florabella actions as well.

Not my mess, but thought this was interesting. During our visit of the old asylum we were told that visitors in the paranormal tours leave things for the ghosts, making a 'mess'. We were on the photo tour!

Raw, pickled, baked, pureed for soup - beets are good for you! Some people don't like the texture, which make them a good option for juicing - add in a carrot, a little onion and celery and you've got yourself a very tasty juice. This old house has seen better days, but it does look as if the current owners still love it.

7 Days of Shooting – Week #27 (w/b 08 January) A Book Title

It could be the book that you are currently reading or of course one that you read as a child. Get down to your local library and check out all those book titles because this week your photos have to represent the title of a book which could be your favourite book or even a book that you’ve still to read!

# The Old House by Pamela Duncan Edwards, Henry Cole (Illustrations) - This is a delightful story about an old house with “low self-esteem” who realises its potential when a family considers moving in. When the house stops feeling sorry for itself and starts feeling sorry for the family, then we know their will be a great outcome!

A great children's book, the story has lots of vocabulary and it has a subtle message of thinking of others before oneself.

Texture Tuesday's challenge is to create an image inspired by any movie title! FUN idea proposed by one of the members of the group. Kim Klassen's "Golden" texture was added.

And... about those two bright happy suitcases... they're packed with loving fun surprises for my special Stanley and will be starting their journey from California to New Jersey very soon.

Our Daily Challenge ... when the music stops ... I go for a ride with my little mate. Today we went to the river. It was lovely and cool and quiet.

We used to go for long walks on the beach but at almost 16 years old and with bad arthritis, Joe now rides in the basket of my bike.

"7 Days of Shooting" "Week #32" "Love or Loathe" "Texture Tuesday". Joe is my best mate. I love him dearly and he loves me. Despite his difficulty walking he is never far from my side.

Today's challenge for Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday is to put her latest texture called "Phoebe" to the test. Although my butt is too big to fit in this dainty chair, I sat on it nonetheless... Happy Texture Tuesday!

One of the largest damselflies, the Emerald Damselfly has a metallic emerald green color and usually rests with its wings partially open on reeds in pond-side banks.

Mature males have blue eyes and a powder blue color (pruinescence) on the prothorax and on segments 1-2 and 9-10 of the abdomen. The female (as you can see below) is thicker bodied than the male with no blue pruinescence.

[7DOS] - Still life - Texture Tuesday

for 7DoS: came across this bit of driftwood while walking along the beach today. It may not be the driest bit of wood I found (I have some more shots to use later this week) but I liked the peeling paint and little grains of dry sand for texture
