The Old Parish Church probably dates from around the 12th century and was in use until the 1830s. During this long period the form of worship changed from Roman Catholic to Protestant (Presbyterian) as a consequence of the Reformation in 1560. During the 13th century the local monks held the church solely for their own use.

for 7DoS: When I took this shot, I thought I would use it for B&W Wednesday but I felt that the little grid gets lost in a B&W conversion. Luckily the wall is textured, so I've decided to use it today instead.
If I had time, I'd knit all day long!!! :)

7DoS - Week #40 (w/b 9 April) Begins With The Letter D
Back to the alphabet, for this week! The letter D must represent your subject … dogs, dolls, damaged, dancing you get the idea but don’t forget the donuts!!
We slowly had to make our way out of the parking area, as the bison were crashing the party...so to speak. :)
I almost got a tongue shot on this one...just not fast enough.

Days of Shooting – Week 8 (w/b 27th August) Vintage
The wine connoisseurs amongst us can show off their treasured bottles of wine or you may have something that is years old, which you have treasured with great care. Old and old fashioned is going to be very much up to date for this week.

7 Days of Shooting – Week #27 (w/b 08 January) A Book Title
It could be the book that you are currently reading or of course one that you read as a child. Get down to your local library and check out all those book titles because this week your photos have to represent the title of a book which could be your favourite book or even a book that you’ve still to read!
# The Old House by Pamela Duncan Edwards, Henry Cole (Illustrations) - This is a delightful story about an old house with “low self-esteem” who realises its potential when a family considers moving in. When the house stops feeling sorry for itself and starts feeling sorry for the family, then we know their will be a great outcome!
A great children's book, the story has lots of vocabulary and it has a subtle message of thinking of others before oneself.

for 7DoS: I was hoping to get a shot of a lovely terrace from my lunch date with a friend today, but the weather had other plans and we ended up inside ... I found this one on my phone, from a recent visit to the beach. The best place to eat chips :)

Macro Mondays: Junk. One of the mysterious things found in the junk drawer!
Our Daily Challenge ... when the music stops ... I go for a ride with my little mate. Today we went to the river. It was lovely and cool and quiet.
We used to go for long walks on the beach but at almost 16 years old and with bad arthritis, Joe now rides in the basket of my bike.

One of the largest damselflies, the Emerald Damselfly has a metallic emerald green color and usually rests with its wings partially open on reeds in pond-side banks.
Mature males have blue eyes and a powder blue color (pruinescence) on the prothorax and on segments 1-2 and 9-10 of the abdomen. The female (as you can see below) is thicker bodied than the male with no blue pruinescence.

for 7DoS: came across this bit of driftwood while walking along the beach today. It may not be the driest bit of wood I found (I have some more shots to use later this week) but I liked the peeling paint and little grains of dry sand for texture

Today's challenge for Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday is to put her latest texture called "Phoebe" to the test. Although my butt is too big to fit in this dainty chair, I sat on it nonetheless... Happy Texture Tuesday!
Texture Tuesday at Kim's Café... The Movie Lovin' Edition
Well, since I'm right here I went with the obvious choice, even though it's not my favorite movie :)
My twist on it is showing the real Casablanca... as we all know the movie wasn't filmed here and Rick's Café didn't even exist at that time :)
Explored on August 16, 2011.... thank you all so much for your visits and comments!
