7 Days of Shooting/Week #41/Favourite Colour/Texture Tuesday

Something different today. While we were going through some old files, we have found this snapshot taken in September 2006 during our day-trip to Slovakia.

Installed in 1997, this quirky bronze statue of a man peeking out from under a manhole cover is certainly one of the most photographed sculptures in Bratislava. Heated discussions have taken place as to what actually the man is up to. Some people say that Čumil is a pervert spending most of his day trying to look up women's skirts as they pass by. Others say he's just a hardworking guy that had just cleaned the sewer and is now watching the world go by from an unusual vantage point.

Textures with thanks to Kim Klassen (Partings, Tea Time and Total Grunge).

The irony here is that I don't own a coffee grinder, because I don't drink coffee. I do, however, LOVE the aroma. In fact, I plan to keep these beans in an open jar, just so I can enjoy them.

I love this apple - & it looks so seasonal with the flowers around it, though the apple has been in place for months. It's a wonderful contrast with the modern buildings that surround it.

The island drifts amongst the snow-capped mountains surrounding the Lake Maggiore.

Isola Bella, meaning "Beautiful Island", really does live up to its name. It is one of the Borromean Islands (Isole Borromee) of the Lake Maggiore in northern Italy. Until the beginning of 1600s, the island was a small rocky cliff occupied by a tiny fishing village. In 1632 Carlo III of the influential House of Borromeo began the construction of a palazzo with luxuriant baroque gardens dedicated to his wife Isabella, from whom the island takes its name.

[Weekly Themes] - Double - Fruits

Well the week went fast as work is busy.

It is Friday evening here now, and the weekend beckons.

I hope you all have a great weekend and feel as calm as this looks.

Taken recently in one of our botanic gardens where there is a fountain that sprays about 8m into the air.

some eggs turned up in the shopping today, so I thought I'd take a few more shots :)

I bought this heart as a prop for a 52 or 12 months photo, then thought it would work nicely for symbols / textures in 7 Days of Shooting.

I found these new Fairy Inkcap Fungi - The Fairy Inkcap forms dense masses swarming over rotting tree stumps and roots. These gregarious little fungi occur from early spring until the onset of winter, and they are at their most spectacular when the caps are young and pale - sometimes nearly pure white. It takes just two or three days for young white caps to turn grey and then begin blackening. Caps typically 0.5 to 1.5cm in diameter and initially 1 to 1.5cm tall, flattening as they open out, the caps are at first egg-shaped, then bell-shaped often with slightly upturned margins.

7 Days of Shooting - Week #20 (w/b 19th November) New: Have you bought anything new recently ... you have an excuse to now ;) Or you could get up early and capture the start of a new day. If it's new, share it with us this week.

7 Days of Shooting/Week #31/Beginning With … F/Texture Tuesday

Not a typical spring texture - this is from our front porch Christmas planter not yet put to compost. The sunshine returned last evening and today is looking beautiful 'at the moment'... Wish today wasn't going to be a busy day on campus with travel later in the day... Feeling the need for a few hours of camera time... Shot for 7DOS, Weekly theme fill the frame, texture Tuesday - a day late.

EXPLORED!! Thank you so much Everyone!! =^D

I feel very fortunate to have stumbled across these in the bush. They don't tend to flower for very long, but with all of the rain that we have had lately, these ones only lasted one day. I had to partially lay in a sloppy, gucky, cold, sludge pool to get this shot. ...Mind you, I guess it could have been worse. This was taken a couple of weeks ago before the mosquitoes woke up! =^d

Thank you Kim for use of her lovely texture 'NotTooShaby'.

The Old Parish Church probably dates from around the 12th century and was in use until the 1830s. During this long period the form of worship changed from Roman Catholic to Protestant (Presbyterian) as a consequence of the Reformation in 1560. During the 13th century the local monks held the church solely for their own use.
