getting low and dirty on the forest track
7 Days of Shooting - Week #21 (w/b 26th November) Low Vantage Point: Get down on the ground or as low as you can possibly go to catch this week’s photos. Or you might be lucky and use a tilted "live view" on your camera ~ we are not looking for you to be standing and shooting upwards! Down low and dirty, this week!!
The pencil should always have a nice point for nice writing!

This toy Koala was hidden in the branches of a Scribbly Gum, quite high up. With all the rain we've had its fur almost looks like wood.

Ran out of time today ... snatched a few moments between dance classes and cooking dinner to take this vase of flowers outside to make the most of the rapidly fading light.

The Hereios have a special project today – a game of 8 Questions. So, here goes:
1. If you could go back to any time in your life, what would you photograph? I worked on some IT projects in Singapore, Ireland, and England before I took up photography. I’m pretty sure I missed some marvelous shots.
2. What kind of picture do you find the least interesting? Architecture without the history or story.
3. Which picture took you the most courage to take (or publish)? My very first silly selfie.
4. What do you admire most in other people’s photography? Anything well done that is surprising or different.
5. If you could follow someone around for a day, who would that be? Santa on Christmas Night.
6. Which shot would you never post on Flickr? Anything that would embarrass someone in the photo.
7. What is unphotographable? That which cannot be spoken.
8. If you had to describe yourself in one word, what would it be? Resilient

Raw, pickled, baked, pureed for soup - beets are good for you! Some people don't like the texture, which make them a good option for juicing - add in a carrot, a little onion and celery and you've got yourself a very tasty juice. Shot for 7DOS, weekly theme Purple, Texture Tuesday, and for Compositionally Challenged, Week 1 - Unity - where everything in the image belongs there.

I don't like bananas so ripe! I like them still a little green!
Seems like I have several options when bananas overripen ~
1. Eat the banana even if it's too ripe! [Yuck!]
2. Throw the banana out! [I hate to waste food!]
3. Bake banana bread! [If you have the other ingredients!]
4. Freeze the banana! [I think this is the best option!}
When I lived in Montana, we used to make delicious sugar-free fruit ice by putting frozen banana and other frozen fruit like blueberries, strawberries, peaches, etc. through a Champion juicer. The banana naturally sweetened the ice!

This week Texture Tuesday we were to use one layer of Kim Klassen's texture called "Simplicity". I used two layers on this each at a lowed opacity and masked some off the flower especially the center.
I created this image using a loose woven fine silk scarf, because the light plays with the textures.
Originally for a macro monday challenge, but didn't use it. Decided it fitted the 7 Days of Shooting theme too, so here goes.

The Girl in the Yellow Dress. David Gilmour.
Love this track. Moody. Bluesy. Evocative. Brilliant.
Makes me want to go out and buy a yellow dress and learn the sax!

She mesmerizes with a smile
Dark eyes as compelling as the bourbon
That girl in the canary yellow dress
Says yes
She flips a pack of cigarettes
He doesn't smoke but he takes one nonetheless
It helps to keep his motives true
(Gauloise-blue)
What else is the poor boy supposed to do?
She dances like a flame
Words unheard
Eyes closed and yellow dress
Whirls and swirls
It's late the hour's growing horns
The band seems to draw her ever closer
This girl gets right down in the groove
Woos and moves
Leads him on to where they play the blues
She dances like a flame
Has no cares, yellow dress flares
Eyes closed, arms above, she shakes
Swirls and snakes
Too late in this folie à trois
He sees that her heart is pounding for
Big daddy who falls down to his knees
Begging her please
Lifts his sax, says here's my little tease
Her dancing sets the place on fire
Heaven and hell
The flames curl up his spine
As she shakes, whirls and snakes

Oh the lessons that must have been learned here..in this field..time stands still for those who visit...
"One of the most “exciting things that happened” was when she killed an 8-foot rattlesnake that had crawled onto the schoolhouse porch. She used a shovel to decapitate it. Two older students later skinned it.
We studied rattlesnakes for a couple of weeks and had the dead snake on display,” she recalled."

Swans sing before they die— 't were no bad thing

That's Coleridge's opinion, not mine! In fact it rather contradicts the quote I posted yesterday.
7 Days of Shooting/Week #44/Based On/Texture Tuesday
When at college, many years ago, I spent some time studying American history. I was moved to tears on many occasions by the words of Sitting Bull as I read about the history of the American Indian. One of my favourite books from that time is 'Bury My heart at Wounded Knee' by Dee Brown.

My contribution is of a Red Bud tree. One of my favorite Spring trees. Used grey day, just golden, brushed linen and scratches from Kim's textures. A couple layers of Florabella actions as well.

He was chirping away, but he stopped when he spotted us. He stared at us for a brief moment like saying "I am not sharing my beautiful song with you", and then he flew away.
