Definitely the highest one of my images has gone in Explore!
A walk in the woods with the family and a camera… a moving wobbly camera image.
Processed to bring out the textures in the blur. I’ve used this approach before and quite like the painterly look you end up with.

[Developed in Capture One for tone and colour rendition. Maxed the Clarity and Structure.
Into Affinity, duplicated the image layer and blended with Soft Light.
Heavily sharpened with Clarity, High Pass/Linear Blend and Unsharp masking. This wouldn’t work on a normal image but it gives the textures in the ICM.
Light soft white vignette to finish… and serve hot with a salad garnish on the side ;) ]
The contrast in the color and textures of the rocks resting on the stony outcrop accented by the warm tones of the leaves caught my eye. I'd love to know how the rounded lumpy rock in the foreground ended up in that spot. Definitely press 'L' to see the detail in the textures.

I went out back to Climping beach on Monday, the only chance this week to get out with the camera, a clear bright day but you make the most of it.
I wanted to shoot this beach at high tide to see the difference from the full low tide of the previous week plus I wanted water around the groynes and rocks.
To say I found photography challenging that day would be an understatement, I have to wear glasses with UV protection, so you can imagine they were dark, the sun was bright and some conditions like my foreground here of white chalk made exposure a challenge, I would normally rely pretty much on the flip out LCD screen but today I had to use the viewfinder a whole lot more as the screen I just could not see, the histogram was my best friend and the amazing autofocus of the R5 did an amazing job for me.
We were able to park in what was left of a small lane rather than the 6K walk there and back from Littlehampton, the tide was high with quite large waves coming in.
With the tide being so high and waves braking on the beach we were able to see the effect of the waves and how the beach is being eroded first hand, each wave would pull away some material from the bank which would collapse forward into the water, imagine this being repeated with each wave and tide and you get the picture.
I took many shots that day, this one as the tide was dropping out, the receding water revealed chalk and other coloured rocks and one of the old groynes.
It was sadly a blue sky day so not the best, but, it`s what you have on the day and make the best of it..

Thawed frost droplets on a stray feather from one of my chickens.
Captured Sat. Dec. 27 in the afternoon, with iPhone and Olloclip Macro Lens and the Pure Camera app. Edited and lightly textured in Snapseed on the iPad.

The Northumberland coastline is a landscape photographers paradise and this remote spot is no exception.
Rumbling Kern, a precarious bit of rocky coastline jutting out into the North Sea, you could spend an age here and come up with something different each time, such is the vastness of the rock formation and patterns, the hardest parts are spotting something you want to shoot and then trying to get to it without going flying on seaweed or falling down crevices in the rocks.
This spot looked like it had potential and took a good while to get out to safely, this took quite a while to set up as the tripod had to be balanced either side of the gap between the 2 rock faces and I was stood on a tiny bit of rock that stretched between the 2 as well, with all my stuff laid out on either side, balancing legs between the rock faces while trying to compose the shot and put filters on, while keeping an eye on the tide that was on it's way back in... not an easy proposition.
Decided on a portrait format image here with the 16-35mm lens, I could have gone slightly wider but that would have meant using really clumbersome filters and there was hardly any room to move about at all so the location dictated the set up for me.
This was the result, I was really drawn to the rock textures and the deep gully leading into the ocean with the colourful seaweed clinging to the rocks, the sea made a fantastic noise as it rushed into this narrow channel and splashed up at the rear of me. As soon as this one was in the bag it was back to the shoreline before the sea cut this rocky section off, definitely a place I'll come back to again and again.
