London International Cruise Terminal, Tilbury, Essex, 22 October 2019. Built in 1930 by the PLA and LMS as the P&O Ocean Liner Terminal and used as such until the 1960's. Most '£10 Poms' sailed for Australia from this terminal and also many immigrant ships landed here, including HMT Empire Windrush. It was connected by rail via the LT&S line to St. Pancras. In 1995 it was reopened as a cruise liner terminal.
Currently, Dover Cargo Terminal has a flourishing trade in perishables freight with three reefer container ships calling at Dover on a weekly basis. These deep-sea services are operated by Africa Express Line, bringing in fresh produce from West Africa and Seatrade which has Dover as a port of call on its Costa Rica-Colombia-Europe line. This equates to the Port of Dover contributing to at least 25% of bananas imported into the UK.

Her Majesty's Yacht Britannia, also known as the Royal Yacht Britannia, is the former royal yacht of the British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, in service from 1954 until 1997. She was the 83rd such vessel since King Charles II acceded to the throne in 1660, and is the second royal yacht to bear the name, the first being the racing cutter built for the Prince of Wales in 1893. During her 43-year career, the yacht travelled more than a million nautical miles around the globe. Now retired from royal service, Britannia is permanently berthed at Ocean Terminal, Leith in Edinburgh, Scotland. It is a popular visitor attraction with over 300,000 visits each year.

A very intense week began on Sunday with a trip round the M25, dropping friends off at Stanstead and then me at Heathrow, as I was flying to Dresden for the week to work.
In the end I came home a day early, so here I am at home, working way, but shattered. A combination of odd shifts, tennis elbow and a start of a cold coming. All this resulted in many hours too less sleep, and now feeling like death warmed up, slightly.
Terminal 2 is good, for a terminal. Easy to check in, get through security and found a place to enjoy a pint in. Not bad.

We were fortunte to fly the Delta Shuttle from Chicago to the Marine Air Terminal and back.
The Marine Air Terminal at LaGuardia Airport is the only active airport terminal dating from the first generation of passenger travel in the United States. Originally built to handle seaplanes, the Art Deco building was designed in 1939 by William Delano of the firm Delano & Aldrich.
Since 1985, the terminal has been used primarily for shuttle services between New York and Boston and Washington D.C. In 1985, Pan American World Airways began the Pan Am Shuttle service between New York and Boston from the terminal while its competitor, the Eastern Shuttle, operated from the major terminal. Delta Air Lines acquired the service from Pan Am in 1991 and continues to use the terminal for operating the Delta Shuttle. It has added a Chicago shuttle (formerly to Midway, now O’Hare) and discontinued the Boston route.

Philippine Rabbit Station
Formerly the Philippine Rabbit Station in Baguio, this place is now better known as the Philippine Rabbit Sinkhole because of the huge crater created when this area sunk during one of the supertyphoons of the 80's.
I still remember when the hole was being refilled, women workers were hired to the the riprapping.
This area now serves as a jeepney terminal for La Trinidad bound jeepneys, also, several bar and restaurants have opened up on the buildings along it's perimeter.
This was built in 1929 and has been abandoned for 34 years. I took this picture from the Lake Shore Limited. I have other pictures of this building taken when I actually went there and wasn't passing by on a train -- but this side is not accessible that way and is most easily visible from the train.

Terminal, two levels of road, and one crowd of pedestrians waiting to safely use the crosswalk (which may never happen). Driving around LAX is like driving in Bangkok.
