sheila, she she bee, my co-worker (middle school art teacher) and best buddy is having her graduate thesis exhibition next week. she is amazingly talented and has worked so hard for this. i am SO proud of her! she managed to produce hundreds of magnificent pieces of pottery, while teaching full time and being a full time wife and mom. she is truly wonderful.
i went to the gallery to help her get some stuff organized today and ready for her big opening reception on monday. for all of you metro-detroiters/michiganders, if you can make it to Eastern Michigan University anytime next week, it's definately worth your time. The lights will be set up to cast some kick ass shadows, and her glazes and textures and shapes are stunning!! :)
congratulations sheila. i am so proud of you!!
oh, and by the way, she is a flickr lurker...so give her a shout out if you wish! :)
Many talented coin engravers, as well as newcomers, started creating hobo nickels in 1913, when the buffalo nickel entered circulation. This accounts for the quality and variety of engraving styles found on carved 1913 nickels. More classic old hobo nickels were made from 1913-dated nickels than any other pre-1930s date.
Many artists made hobo nickels from the tens to twenties, with new artists joining in as the years went by.

Last year, I was a certified Industry Creative Expert by MSC Malaysia for the honoree of someone so close to the Animation Industry. Our amazingly talented pre-production team "Saladin, The Animated Series" was nominated in 2011 International Emmy Awards under the Young / Children category. I went from complex malls, cities to states in Rompin-Pahang, Sepang, Salak South and through all small town and other neighbor countries to promote Saladin's trailer including Singapore and Kemang, Jakarta, Indonesia.
Sadly, as a web specialist for Saladin, I was taken lightly of my contribution despite my effort to market & promote the talent and the Saladin itself through word of mouth, my own talks, through newspapers and media. I was SO TRANSPARENT and neglected but those who opposed Saladin team, I was at the front-liner backing up the diversity of our creative talent.
I reserved my comments on the recent VFX world awareness because I was merely no one. Today, I stand because without me too, none have no idea we have such talented team, and I am continue to be, FORGOTTEN by some my very own team. Some of them even wanted to exclude me and make fun of me, whom I look highly with honor and respect for their talents and high class creativity. The hardship and devastation that I have to go through made me resign my job from that noble team.
At the end of the day, I kept telling everyone, our Malaysian creative talents are TOP NOTCH, WORLD CLASS and internationally recognized despite some of them don't know me, or ignore me for what I have done in the past. I am still happy and proud of them, and I am proud of myself. There's no awards that could measure or to recognize this journey.
As long as I breathe, I will craft my art in my own way and WILL continue to inspire myself and others because as long as I believe in my ability, capability, talent, determination and hardwork, If I can survive, so does everyone else.
I was and still the renown graphic artist for new generation of young digital artist & designers, countless of Art & Design students who studied my works, make thesis, paperworks and presentations about my artworks. God knows how grateful I am to have others who acknowledge you when some who I look up to doesn't give what I deserved. So, THANK YOU to those who sees my contributions and only God would bless you and your future success. All of you who had been working non-stop to produce magnificent work for this industry, all I can say that you're indeed special in your very own way and never give up. If one door closes, another door will eventually be open.
To light, love and peace,
- Muid Latif
