ARTZUID 2025 Amsterdam

The 9th edition of the Amsterdam Sculpture Biennale ARTZUID takes place from 21 May to 21 September 2025. On Apollolaan and Minervalaan in Amsterdam-Zuid, 70 outdoor sculptures are being showcased of renowned artists and young talented artists.

This exhibition draws from top international artists and Dutch talent for the selection of sculptures and installations that can be seen this summer in Amsterdam. ARTZUID transforms the exhibition location into a surreal urban landscape in which figurative sculptures alternate with architectonic installations. They show a great variety in format and material. What unites them is their focus on the enigma of human existence; the wonder, the emotions and visions of being, the ambitions and fears about our place in the world. Artists such as Leiko Ikemura, Alicja Kwade and Neo Rauch invite the visitor to an exchange of thoughts about this, in a sensual conversation with the sculptures. Displayed is the upheaval of occupation, the fear of war and the spirit of resistance in the contributions of artists such as Magdalena Abakanowicz, Shinkichi Tajiri and Armando. Atelier van Lieshout refers to power and impotence, struggle and victimhood, in a group of figures around a rider on horseback. On the trail of ARTZUID this work is connected to the Indonesia-Netherland Monument on Apollolaan. These are just a few examples of the more than 60 works that populate ARTZUID. The architectural works by often young artists have a commitment and idealism reminiscent of architect H.P. Berlage and urban sculptor Hildo Krop. Both having been instrumental in developing the urban design of the neighbourhood home to ARTZUID. They stimulate visitors to think about the future of the urban community and seek answers to the question of what strategies are needed to create a sustainable and peaceful society

Talented and Gifted 7th grade students from Harding Middle School visited University of Iowa Health Care to explore careers in Medicine and gain a better understanding of what working in the medical field looks like. Students first visited with a Neonatologist, who showed them how to intubate a baby and shared his experiences of being a Neonatologist with the students. Students then visited Air Care where they met some members of the flight crew and had the opportunity to go behind the scenes and take a look inside the helicopter. Students also had an up-close view to watch a helicopter land on the helipad. Finally, students met with a couple of current Carver College of Medicine students who talked about what it is like to be in medical school as well as taught some basic anatomy of the heart, lungs and brain. Students were able to touch human plastinated organs for a better understanding of the anatomical parts they were learning about.

University of Iowa Health Care is committed partners with formal and informal educators and community organizations across the state to advance STEM literacy to inspire the next generation of health care professionals and build a foundation for children to understanding their own health. In FY2015, more than 16,000 school age children were engaged in hands on learning provided by 260 faculty, staff and students.

Ralph Waldo Emerson. The happiest man is he who learns from nature the lesson of worship.

She is talented at many things, but right now she is growing her soccer skills. She is good. She is generous. Always looking to pass the ball to a teammate. It's one more thing I love about her, and one more thing I hope she recognizes in herself. Her team is Wicked, and they are lovely.

One of the most talented bands ever, a post-punk New Wave band from Swindon, England, that came together in 1972 and recorded from 1976 to 2005. Original, quirky, innovative, with clever (sometimes lacerating) lyrics, perhaps best known for “Senses Working Overtime” and “Making Plans for Nigel.” The “StraightenOut” blogger Vivian of Rotterdam (link below) describes their sound well: “a unique brand of hyperactive pop mixed with funk, punk, ska, reggae and rock.”

Andy Partridge, in front with glasses, was the lead singer and lyricist (bassist Colin Moulding wrote and sang about one-third of the songs, such as “Making Plans for Nigel”). Partridge was (is) brilliant but suffered from stage fright, and after 1982 XTC was a studio band only (like the Beatles but without the popularity and income). No two songs sound the same: their awesome originality and flexibility truly beggar description. There are other similarities with the Beatles. Listen and ye shall hear.

From “Jason and the Argonauts” (from “English Settlement,” 1982):

“I was in a land where men forced women to hide their facial features

And here in the West it’s just the same but they’re using makeup veils”

Under the name Dukes of Stratosphear, they also recorded a brilliant sort of psychedelic parody album titled “Chips from the Chocolate Fireball” (1987) that combined their 1985 mini-album “25 O'Clock” and “Psonic Psunspot” (1987).

i am so pissed off at all this "niley vs nelena" crap. Selena is BEAUTIFUL, TALENTED, A ROLEMODEL, and so much more, so all you freaking loser haters SHUT THE HELL UP.

i know people are like it's "fake" and other rubbish, but answer this, if it WAS for Nick's album why would he need it? i mean he's got a tour, and why would a girl effect that? she WOULDN'T and all the people saying that either "love" niley or hate Selena, but really GET OVER IT, niley is D-E-A-D, OVER they're JUST friends now, i mean just because they were in "love" when they were 14, doesn't mean they'll be together forever, when your 14 you're not in love how like Kevin is with Danielle, or how Zac is with Vanessa, so all of you shut up about it, Miley's got Liam, and IF Nick has Selena be HAPPY about it, i mean just because he may or may not have a girlfriend doesn't change his music, image or sound, so all of you BACK THE HELL OFF SELENA! because i am sick of it. i love the Jonas', Miley, Selena, but if you were really a REAL FAN you would be happy he's got friends back or he's got a girlfriend, because i am, and if he continues to do what he loves then NO ONE should take that away from him, and this goes for Joe aswell. i mean no one had a go at Kevin when he married Danielle, she wasn't his "first" love, maybe no one will know "his" but i am honestly sick of all this Niley vs Nelena shit, get over it, for goodness sake. it's PATHETIC. so all you "niley" fans let it go, because i hardly doubt Nick would ever go back to someone who he "loved" at 14? maybe one day he'll find someone like Danielle, or maybe he'll be with Miley, Selena, Demi or ANYONE, but be HAPPY for him, because it's honestly not fair on anyone.

^ MY OPINION, don't like it then go the hell away, don't bitch to me. -.-

THANK YOU.

As I was doing research, I saw a cool photo that used sheet music. I wanted to try this idea, but it didn't turn out as well as I hoped. For this photo, I wanted to do something music oriented because Jared is musically talented. Throughout the whole assignment, I wanted to take pictures that would reveal more about the person than what would meet the eye. I came in after school one day and started taking pictures in the studio. For editing, I took pictures of sheet music and layered it on top of Jared. I wanted to make the notes more subtle so it wasn't distracting from the photo.

To answer this weeks' question, "How can layered textured images change the concept of a portrait," I used the musical notes found in sheet music to reveal more about Jared just by looking at him.
