One of the most talented bands ever, a post-punk New Wave band from Swindon, England, that came together in 1972 and recorded from 1976 to 2005. Original, quirky, innovative, with clever (sometimes lacerating) lyrics, perhaps best known for “Senses Working Overtime” and “Making Plans for Nigel.” The “StraightenOut” blogger Vivian of Rotterdam (link below) describes their sound well: “a unique brand of hyperactive pop mixed with funk, punk, ska, reggae and rock.”

Andy Partridge, in front with glasses, was the lead singer and lyricist (bassist Colin Moulding wrote and sang about one-third of the songs, such as “Making Plans for Nigel”). Partridge was (is) brilliant but suffered from stage fright, and after 1982 XTC was a studio band only (like the Beatles but without the popularity and income). No two songs sound the same: their awesome originality and flexibility truly beggar description. There are other similarities with the Beatles. Listen and ye shall hear.

From “Jason and the Argonauts” (from “English Settlement,” 1982):

“I was in a land where men forced women to hide their facial features

And here in the West it’s just the same but they’re using makeup veils”

Under the name Dukes of Stratosphear, they also recorded a brilliant sort of psychedelic parody album titled “Chips from the Chocolate Fireball” (1987) that combined their 1985 mini-album “25 O'Clock” and “Psonic Psunspot” (1987).

My inspiration for this assignment came from a talented photographer that goes by Edward Weston. Edward was a photographer located in California in the 1900s and was known for having his subject matter as natural forms that move away from industrial settings to organic shapes. When I first came across Edward Weston, I was surprised by how much I liked his work because I usually enjoy all the photographer's work that we have learned about so far. Still, he was on another level of quality, in my opinion. It was something about how his whole ideology behind photography and how he created his work immediately caught my attention. Now my thought process going into this assignment was to follow the modernism techniques. In order to follow this technique, I had to take a close-up picture of the object, so in my case, a banana. In this photo, I also tried to capture the beauty of the banana by using Weston's techniques. In this case, I chose to have a dark background with a natural source of lighting while taking the banana to be the centerpiece of the project, leaving the picture to have no context, just how Weston would have done.

Adam was born to a multi-talented beauty queen Mother and a Father who, in addition to being a US Army Spy and a Counter-Intelligence Special Agent, was also a highly accomplished entrepreneur. Adam was taught at a young age that, in both life and business, loyalty is a requirement for success. He’s had the honor of working directly with his father in several of the family businesses. In fact, this is where he learned crucial entrepreneurial skills and honed his talents with international business strategies and venture capitalism.

Adam earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in International Business and Marketing from the University of Utah. He was hand-picked by the President of the University’s renowned School of Business to compete with dozens of other ambitious nationwide-graduates for the opportunity to secure a lucrative job within a prestigious Fortune 100 company.

Adam‘s hard work and creativity helped him land this job of a lifetime. He obtained incredible business experience there and spent years innovating, improving processes and setting sales records. Although this dream job in Traditional Corporate America was a fun challenge for him, and something he truly enjoyed mastering, Adam’s natural entrepreneurial spirit kept nudging him to do something more significant with his time and talents.

Since 2001, Adam has been involved in the Health and Wellness Industry as a successful Entrepreneur, Broker, Product Developer and Manufacturer of Cosmeceutical products. During his career, he has worked with some of the most recognizable Fortune 500 businesses along with many top international Network Marketing companies. Adam has consistently proven his unique ability to help his clients achieve their goals through creative Distribution-Channel Placement, innovative Product Development and custom Manufacturing. Adam currently owns three profitable businesses.

Admittedly, Adam was not initially a fan of Network Marketing. He did not understand the business model because it was new to him. However, once he learned that the REAL focus of Direct Sales is to help average people get a taste of entrepreneurialism --- with minimal risk and at a low cost --- Adam was absolutely convinced of the potential with Multi-Level Marketing.

Since joining the company as one of the original 11 founding distributors, Adam has discovered that many of his life-goals truly do align perfectly with Network Marketing. Adam enjoys helping others find significance. Adam is most grateful for the complete time-freedom he has with his fantastic wife and five children. It’s my pleasure to introduce you to Adam Paul Green, MXI Corp Ambassador and Multi-Millionaire Earner.

Street mime in old quarter of Innsbruck, Austria. Although talented at what she does, this mime gave me the creeps with her cold, machine-like stare.

We have heard this incredibly talented group of musicians from Buffalo a number of other times. They played every kind of music you can think of for an hour and a half non-stop, except for a few great stories.

This one number, sung here by another group, was my favorite of the songs they did.

I have had the incredible opurtinity of sharing my time with 15 talented people, during the preparation and opening of the Opdagelser 2018 exhibition in the Heike gallery in Denmark.

We have worked, cleaned, cooked, painted, walked and talked endlessly.

We have thought about staying to live in the residence of artists that Heike has built for the last 10 years with his hands.

I have become again with the force of nature, silence, the roar of the sea, the wind, the trees rising from the earth.

After all this time living in big cities, I had forgotten where I came from.

I can not ignore that during the first twenty years of my life, I lived between a small village in the mountains and a small city next to the sea.

These feelings have returned and caught me off guard.

But not everything has been dramatic, I have also laughed, relaxed, enjoyed things as simple as a glass of wine and a good conversation next to a fire.

Definitely, after this experience something has changed in my head and in my artistic vision.

I can only be grateful.

He tenido la increíble oportunidad de compartir mi tiempo con 15 personas talentosas, durante la preparación y apertura de la exposición Opdagelser 2018 en la galería Heike en Dinamarca.

Hemos trabajado, limpiado, cocinado, pintado, caminado y hablado interminablemente.

Solo puedo estar agradecido.

South West Camerata & Gifted and Talented String Academy concert at St Giles' Cathedral, Edinburgh, Thursday 17 August 2017.

She played her best and had a well deserved smiling giggle at the end when she heard the applause.

Me and my particularly talented friend Cat (of Catillest) have decided to try and get involved in all the interesting art stuff that’s happening in Croydon. So, we’ve started documenting the activity around the newly formed ‘Arts Quarter’ - which is right in the middle of things, just off of the high street and the clocktower. As far as I know, the Arts Quarter is the brainchild of Kevin Zuchowski-Morrison. Kevin’s the creator-curator of the RISE Gallery - which can be found in St. George’s Walk. If you're looking for it, you can't miss it.

There have apparently been over 120 paintings so far, and these are going to be rotated (i'm not sure how often). The whole thing was started off by a takeover from Ayaan Bulale's Femme Fierce. Femme Fierce is made up of about 35 artists - they actually broke a Guinness record for 'the largest spray paint mural created by a team'. They did this to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer Care. And ain't that somethin'?

The Arts Quarter project faced an initial hurdle in the form of three (?) blokes who kept tagging over all the art. Kevin and said guys have apparently come to an understanding now, and I guess everybody's hoping that things are gonna stay… unedited. I'm not a street artist but the idea of respecting the work of your fellow spray painters and hip hop artisans seems like a…kinda fundamental thing.

Asides from Femme Fierce, other artists who've taken include Eska & Morgazmik, Decolife, Dan Kitchener, Artista, Mr Cenz and Gnasher. A lot of people are making comparisons to East London - Shoreditch, Hackney Wick etc. - I'd beg to differ, no comparisons are needed. Croydon's always had a strong scene, all of its own: shitloads of graffiti (usually not of the …sanctioned kind) plus the kind of atmosphere and urban culture that you can only develop in a concrete wasteland (OK, so it's not ALL wasteland). And dubstep was invented here - I saw that with my own eyes!

Re: the artist in some of the shots. We ran into this guy and his girlfriend working on one of the walls in St. George's Walk. Softspoken, he told us that he’d been diagnosed with autism and osteoarthritis (in his writing hand) and that 'didn’t rate himself much' as an artist. But he also said that he was 'getting on a bit’ and that it is never too late to express yourself in some way or another #‎DontDieWithYourMusicStillInYou

Talented and Gifted 7th grade students from Harding Middle School visited University of Iowa Health Care to explore careers in Medicine and gain a better understanding of what working in the medical field looks like. Students first visited with a Neonatologist, who showed them how to intubate a baby and shared his experiences of being a Neonatologist with the students. Students then visited Air Care where they met some members of the flight crew and had the opportunity to go behind the scenes and take a look inside the helicopter. Students also had an up-close view to watch a helicopter land on the helipad. Finally, students met with a couple of current Carver College of Medicine students who talked about what it is like to be in medical school as well as taught some basic anatomy of the heart, lungs and brain. Students were able to touch human plastinated organs for a better understanding of the anatomical parts they were learning about.

University of Iowa Health Care is committed partners with formal and informal educators and community organizations across the state to advance STEM literacy to inspire the next generation of health care professionals and build a foundation for children to understanding their own health. In FY2015, more than 16,000 school age children were engaged in hands on learning provided by 260 faculty, staff and students.
