We are away this weekend, as our older son, Matt, is marrying Sophie in Aylesbury tomorrow (Saturday 20th)! As mother of the groom, I haven't had very much to do, but I told them a while back I wished there was some way I could contribute in an arty way. They agreed that I could make the cake toppers, while my sister did the cake! I've no idea how the cake will look, but these are my creations (there's a log with their names on too, but I forgot to take a photo!) Sophie's very into otters and she calls Matt her gibbon, hence the unusual animals!! (They are made out of Fimo modelling clay)
We will walk Lina down to a lovely lady called Francesca, where she is staying for 2 nights, then pack up the car and collect my Mum and be on our way! I'm not supposed to put photos on Facebook till I'm given permission, but no one said anything about Flickr...!! Watch this space, and have a great weekend! xox
We celebrated my mom's birthday this weekend and since she co-owns a quilt shop and is a quilt fanatic I came up with these toppers just for her. I love our handblown glass Christmas tree topper. I thought the design was unique to Russia - but I was wrong. It seems that the topper is popular in Ukraine, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Poland, and many other Eastern European countries. Many of the toppers contain colorful artwork. Check them out online - they are gorgeous, and a nice change from the usual star or angel.

I took this shot of our wedding cake topper for our wedding album. It's called "Love one another" and is part of the Most Sincerely line designed by Claire Stoner.
Strobist information: A reflector was put on the right side to prevent harsh sunlight from a window to hit the topper. A 430EX was bounced via the ceiling from the right, and second 430EX was held behind the topper to light up the background, both triggered with the Canon ST-E2.
