Looking close... on Friday!

Brandganzen. De meest rechtse ziet er anders uit. Lijkt de verkeerde trein te hebben genomen...

When we ran a Post Office, pens and pencils were forever going walkabout! The supplies department would send us these toppers that would be affixed to these items, hopefully to stop them disappearing constantly!

The Looking Close...on Friday theme is Pencil Topper.

The moon sets on the Christmas Star, took a few shots to get the right alignment on this. The star is atop a distant cell phone tower and the moon aligns with it.

Edward Bok enlisted the help of Samuel Yellin to create the metal door and iron gate for Bok Tower. The iron gates leading to the tower were hand-wrought and feature birds with various expression & wings of flight.

If there was ever a tree topper choice for me, it would definitely be a Snowy sitting on my tree! :)

An artistic rendering of a macro view of a Pop It Topper bubble fidget toy. The frame represents a span of two-inches across.

Those who are not familiar with Pop It Toppers can click the below link to a Wikipedia article about them (with pictures). The version I photographed (in its entirety) is a very small topper with only four bubbles on it.

Strobist info:

The scene was illuminated by two Nikon SB900 speedlights and a steady LED light. The SB900s were placed CL/CR and fired in Manual mode @ 1⁄32 power through 24" gridded soft boxes and triggered by PocketWizard Plus Xs. The LED was placed @ 11-o'clock.

We got our annual snowfall around Seattle ... a couple of inches but everything shuts down for a couple of days. We took the pups out for a walk and Topper was not to impressed. I took this when we got back ... Topper is wet and probably a bit cold.

These are some of the toppers in my pencil collection. I have over 2000 pencils, but I've never taken a photo of them before!

A three-legged stool? No, it's that little gizmo the pizza parlor puts in takeout boxes to keep the cardboard lid from smashing the pie. It's known as a "pizza topper"; I know because I called and asked. :)
