The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Well, that depends where you're standing.
An architectural masterpiece, property of the Crown and then a royal residence, Château de Chenonceau is a truly.
exceptional site by its original design, but also its history: loved, managed and protected by women, including Diane of Poitiers and Catherine de Medicis, it is also known as the ‘Château des Dames’. The feminine touch is everywhere; it has protected the Château from the ravages of war and made it a peaceful place.
Outside, the gardens of Catherine de Medicis and Diane of Poitiers emphasise the elegance of this unique landscape between sky and water. From the Jardin Vert designed by Bernard Palissy to the Italian maze and the floral harmony of the vegetable garden, the spirit of Chenonceau can be felt everywhere. The ‘tranquillity of the soul’ is coupled with ‘aristocratic serenity’.
The Caryatids from the Erechtheion. Cast replicas.
One of the Caryatids is still missing.
The second from the left is still kidnapped and displayed as a trophy in the British Museum.
This is an extract from the British Museum's web site "...During the Greek War of Independence (1821-33) the Erectheion was reduced to ruins..". No mention that most of the destruction was actually caused by the infamous Lord Elgin a few years earlier when he was stealing the treasures from the Acropolis on their behalf.
After ordering the most obnoxious amount of food out of this yummy looking menu, the tab finally arrived. Thus followed a series of reactions...
Ryann : " - Mate, please... Save me I'm broke !"
Kaleb taking care of Adianna : " - I think we have a problem here guys... "
Adianna fainting : " - Did you see the Price? did you ? I did and I'm not feeling so well... "
Lika munching like her life depends on it : " - Nom nom nom, I don't care I'm busy eating right now ... "
Ethan staring at the ceiling : " - I never noticed these chandeliers had such divine lights ... " [Maybe if i stare long enough they might forget about me ...]
Lya : " - But...My Love... You cannot invite everyone... how are we gonna pay the rent this month ?! "
Oceane : " - Sweet Baby Jesus ! I forgot my wallet at home ! "
Zakk whispering to Sakura : " - Didn't you owe a dinner to Adam ? "
Sakura : " - Shhhhhhhhhh ! "
Blaze hiding in plain sight, thinking out loud : " - If I don't see them, they don't see me either, right? "
Marilou munching like no one's watching : " - Nom nom nom, Guys, this cheese is holy !"
Séb playing fake mime on his jacket pockets one handed while mischeviously smiling : " - Oh non Océane... I forgot my wallet too.... "
Adam : " - Well.. I guess it's on me... again ?! "

This is my biggest project to this date. Posing 13 people was tedious yes but also a wonderful experience because everyone made it for the shooting, some had to set the alarm and wake up in the middle of the night to be there... US, Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia all here as one at the exact same SL hour. I will never be able to express to you my friends how grateful I am for making this possible. You are all amazeballs for coping with my crazy ideas and trusting me with blind eyes !!!
Special thanks to Ethan and Kaleb for letting us use their platform in the sky of Tulum and helping a lot with the decor !
This is a great opportunity for us to wish a wonderful Thanksgiving to our fellow Canadian friends ! 🍁

The Pleasure House Folly was originally built as a 2 storey lookout house to keep watch for pirates and smugglers at the nearby quay in North Devon
Towards the end of the 18th century, it was converted into a folly as part of a broader grand architectural landscape re-design

The Swiss Val Ferret is a valley on the southern side of Rhône valley in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It lies between the Mont Blanc Massif and the Pennine Alps, with the river La Dranse de Ferret running down the length of the valley.

And a little portal to The Last Kingdom:
The Two Sisters: there are many legends that orbit these two rocks. The most singular is undoubtedly that of a Sirena, which attracted with its seductive song the sailors inside the Grotta degli Schiavi, where the poor were imprisoned. An ally of the perfected mermaid was a sea demon, who for his misdeeds was turned into stone and divided into two: the two sisters.
The most colorful thing in the world is black and white, it contains all colors and at the same time excludes all (Vikrmn) !!
The courtyard (Sahan) is usually found in larger ‘Grand’ mosque structures. It is an open area, usually has a shape of square or rectangular. The courtyard is used by worshipers during significant Islamic prayers and large gatherings such as the holy month Ramadan, Eid Al-Fitr (Feast of Breakfast) and Eid Al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice
Hiking the short path down to Ruby Beach in Washington State. The goal was to get there for sunset over the Pacific Ocean but the conditions weren't right for that. The next goal was to make it to the huge sea stacks that dot the coastline in this area. Again, I failed as the water from rivers and other parts inland were just too big to navigate up the beach. So here is an overlook stop on the hike down from the parking lot. Still an awesome sight and if you enlarge the image you can see how many people were on the beach taking in the sights. That first look of the ocean is always something I hold very dear to my heart each time I return to it.
Garreg Ddu Reservoir, Elan Valley, Powys, Wales
The Foel Tower is the starting point of the 73 mile journey of the water from the Elan Valley to Birmingham.
This stone tower houses a system of valves and cylinders which can be raised and lowered hydraulically to draw water off from the reservoir at various depths as required. This water is then directed into the start of an aqueduct that carries the water to Birmingham.
Unfortunately it rained for most of the duration of my visit to the Elan Valley. This was taken during one brief interlude in the monsoon like rain that was coming down..... so I visited again this weekend. The sun was shining and all the dams were flowing over so more shots to follow :))
The Forest of Paphos, a few minutes walk from home.
The cool breeze in the evenings makes walking here a most pleasurable experience.
On a few rare occasions I spotted wild mufflon here (mufflon is the shy goat like symbol of Cyprus that is only found in this forest).
A little further, in a secret location known to only a few we pick in the summer the most scented oregano. It keeps for years but we replenish it every summer so we don't run out.

If you have a spare few minutes, you can read about my adventure to photograph the trail on my blog. Part 1 of the trail will be online later today.
The purpose of the Windy Post was to act as a marker for the Tavistock to Ashburton moorland track which in effect was an early medieval route connecting Buckfast and Tavistock abbeys. For centuries this lone cross has stood upon the bleak moorland with the Grimstone and Sortridge leat for company.
Many consider that the age of the cross dates back to the sixteenth century and that possibly it replaced a much earlier cross, English Heritage however notes on its Pastscape Record that the cross is of medieval origin and date it to between 1400 and 1499. Today the time-worn granite pillar displays the effects of numerous cattle and ponies rubbing up against it which has resulted in a somewhat 'drunken' tilt. As with many of Dartmoor's granite relics the Windy Post proudly wears a multi-coloured coat of lichens which serve to emphasise its rugged texture.

Late afternoon today.
Lavender Bay, Sydney.
Saturday, 15th April, 2023.
During my usual Saturday trek around the harbour today I discovered, by chance, this elaborate setting near the wharf at Lavender Bay. It was a marriage proposal complete with roses, candles, a 'Marry Me' sign, and a photographer (or two, lol), not to mention a bridge and a skyline.
Now why did I not think to do this some years ago?

The Royal Pavilion, also known as the Brighton Pavilion, is a former royal residence located in Brighton, England. Beginning in 1787, it was built in three stages as a seaside retreat for George, Prince of Wales, who became the Prince Regent in 1811. It is built in the Indo-Saracenic style prevalent in India for most of the 19th century. The current appearance of the Pavilion, with its domes and minarets, is the work of architect John Nash, who extended the building starting in 1815

The Wilhelmshöhe Castle, designed in the classicism style, was built in the second half of the 18th century. It not only houses an extraordinary collection of paintings, but Napoleon III was also under arrest here, as well as the - long ago - German imperial family who had their summer residence here.
The underground gallery of the fortified palace, the Alcazar of Seville, known as the 'Baths of María de Padilla', a cistern that stored rain water. Date it's origin is debatable from the Phonecians, to the Tartessos, and Romans. For fortified structures were built over previous fortifications.

The Tunnel View is probably Yosemite's most famous vista. Lots of famous landmarks are visible here, including, from left to right, El Capitan, Clouds Rest, Half Dome, Sentinel Rock, Sentinel Dome, Bridalveil Fall, and a tree.
If you enter Yosemite Valley via Highway 41, this will be one of your first glimpses of Yosemite Valley; you'll see this immediately upon exiting the eponymous tunnel just uphill from the viewpoint. If you entered Yosemite Valley via another route, follow the signs to Bridalveil Fall (or Highway 41), but continue uphill past the falls to this spot.

Shadow of Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead tv series. This is an action figure and its head is less than 1". I used the sunlight coming through the window and a white paper background. And it looks like a silhouette, too. A bit confusing, isn't it?
▪There is a little difference between a silhouette and a shadow and I was reading about it. This is the photo of the shadow that I took directly from the white paper. If I had wanted to take a silhouette, I would have taken a photo of the figure against a lighted background. In this way, only the dark object would be seen against that background of light, but without leaving a shadow on it. This is how I understand it, but I get more confused when people see the photo and continue calling it a silhouette.▪

The Hunter
~Edgar Albert Guest~
Cheek that is tanned to the wind of the north.
Body that jests at the bite of the cold,
Limbs that are eager and strong to go forth
Into the wilds and the ways of the bold;
Red blood that pulses and throbs in the veins,
Ears that love silences better than noise;
Strength of the forest and health of the plains;
These the rewards that the hunter enjoys.
Forests were ever the cradles of men;
Manhood is born of a kinship with trees.
Whence shall come brave hearts and stout muscles, when
Woods have made way for our cities of ease?
Oh, do you wonder that stalwarts return
Yearly to hark to the whispering oaks?
'Tis for the brave days of old that they yearn:
These are the splendors the hunter invokes.

The Cuillin mountains on the Isle of Skye making a brief appearance in the sun. Taken from the Applecross peninsula, Scotland
The wonderful, rare, wild Sea Holly [Eryngium Maritimum ] grows in isolated places along the coast here on stabilised sand dunes.
Its differing green coloured and white veined and edged leaves which are almost luminous, make it very attractive I think. The seed heads which are just forming will eventually turn a light purple/blue adding to its lovely appearence. These plants can survive in extremely inhospitable places and can exist with very little moisture and are salt and wind tolerant. They were originally plants of the high arid places of the World such as the Peruvian mountains and the Andes. They somehow, with many other similar plants, migrated here some 15000 years ago as their imprints have been found in Fossils from these areas. Luckily no one was building border walls then!!
Ive reported the location of this beautiful plant to the Biodiversity Dept of Trinity College, Dublin who will log its position for future study.
This plant is said to have aphrodisiac properties but others say its not true. Mind you swalowing the prickily leaves is...er... would be quite severe and Im saying no more as my throat is killing me at the moment!!! And you lot, behave yerselves!!! Lol!
Hope you like the photo.
