The heron was in the middle of a lake and the zoom lens on my camera isn't that good and the photos didn't come out that well, but I was still pleased to get some photos of it nevertheless!

The Routeburn walk is a world renowned alpine walk/trail run over 32km (20 miles) within Fiordland National Park, New Zealand. For walkers/runners this is the very first glimpse of the trail and Routeburn river as they cross the small footbridge adjacent to the carpark and shelter to commence the trail.

The Alblasserwaard is a polder in the province South Holland in the Netherlands. It is mainly known for the windmills of Kinderdijk, a village in the northwest of the Alblasserwaard.

The first human inhabitants of the Alblasserwaard settled there after the last Ice Age, around 10.000 years ago. The ice had not reached the area itself, but Eolian deposits created high points in the wet environment. These high points were places where hunter-gatherers settled, as archaeological investigations in the area have shown.

During the Middle Ages several canals and dikes were created to reclaim the land, with the last part being endiked in the second half of the 14th century. Yet numerous floods continued to happen throughout the history of the area, as it is bound by rivers on all sides.

Flowers of the rugose rose (Rosa rugosa) in this woodland come in two colours, white and deep pink. This was only one opened flower remaining I was seen was spotted in full bloom but plenty of bright red fruits around. Rosa rugosa has many other common names such as Beach rose, Japanese rose, Ramanas rose among others, and is native to eastern Asian countries. It has been introduced to the UK and Europe over two centuries ago and is naturalised. Primrose Hill Community Woodland. Bath, BANES, England, UK.

The Aiguille Verte culminates at 4421 m (14505 ft). The large rocky needle below is the Aiguille du Dru (Grand Dru) at 3754 m (12316 fr). Its rock face, more than 1000 m ( 3281 ft) high, makes it a renowned climbing spot.

The view south from Sgurr na Banachdich on the Skye Cuillin. Most prominent are the peak of Sgurr Dearg with the Inn Pinn on the right, and Sgurr Alasdair on the left with a snow covered Great Stone Chute. A fantastic day with not a breath of wind on the ridge.

The Kelpies are 30-metre-high horse-head sculptures depicting kelpies (shape-shifting water spirits), located between Falkirk and Grangemouth, standing next to a new extension to the Forth and Clyde Canal, and near River Carron, in The Helix, a new parkland project built to connect 16 communities in the Falkirk Council Area, Scotland. Towering above the Forth & Clyde Canal, The Kelpies are a feat of engineering, each made with 300 tonnes of structural steel; a steel frame with stainless steel cladding. The sculptures were designed by sculptor Andy Scott and were completed in October 2013 to form a gateway at the eastern entrance to the Forth and Clyde canal. The Kelpies are a monument to horse-powered heritage across Scotland.

The Japanese Tea Garden (Japanese: 日本茶園) in San Francisco, California, is a popular feature of Golden Gate Park, originally built as part of a sprawling World's Fair, the California Midwinter International Exposition of 1894. Though many of its attractions are still a part of the garden today, there have been changes throughout the history of the garden that have shaped it into what it is today.

The pagoda in the Japanese Tea Garden is a five-tiered Buddhist shrine. It, along with the Temple Gate, was built as a temporary indoor display for the Japanese section inside the Palace of Food Products at the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition. After the conclusion of the PPIE, the pagoda and Temple Gate were moved into the Japanese Tea Garden.

Beethoven likes to lie in the most unusual places.

Here he is on the edge of his jungle gym.

He loves hanging out like this, looking outside

and getting some fresh air.

A fast snapshot, because he doesn't like

taking pictures of him ;-)

Enjoy your day my dear friends and stay safe

90 minutes drive from Sydney.

Along The Bells Line of Road.

And, brand new to Mount Wilson, there is now a Coffee Cart!!

It is called 'The Jolly Wombat'.

Discovered by me as I departed Mount Wilson today, near sunset, for the return drive to Sydney. It is awesome!!

Unbelievable - a chic quality 'flat white coffee', along with a Portuguese Tart, along a remote country laneway at Mount Wilson.

I am still in shock.

And, it was such a scream - the power went out in the VW Kombi Coffee Cart, and so one of the amazing women running this show, declared: "I'll be back in a moment. I just need to pour some petrol into the generator".

And so she did.

The Coffee Cart is mentioned (with a picture) on Page 8 of the local Mount Wilson newsletter.

The Salisbury Cathedral, formally known as the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is an Anglican cathedral in Salisbury, England, and is considered one of the leading examples of Early English architecture. The main body was completed in only 38 years, from 1220 to 1258.

This cathedral has the tallest church spire in the United Kingdom (123m/404 ft) as well as the largest cloister and the largest cathedral close in Britain (80 acres (320,000 m2)). The cathedral contains the world's oldest working clock (from AD 1386) and has the best surviving of the four original copies of the Magna Carta.

Amazing building, one of my favourite skyscrapers!

Thanks for the visits, comments and faves, they are greatly appreciated!

Have a great weekend!

The Fen orchid (Liparis loeselii) is rare and endangered orchid species in the UK with a strong population at Kenfig NNR. Dry weather takes it tall and I couldn’t spot any in the place I visited from pre-pandemic times. So, I was very happy to get away with couple images of one plant thanks to some tips from another orchid lover passing by and a guided tour as the marker of the right spot. Here is the result. The mythical lake of Epirus (drakolimni). The lake resides at an altitude of 2050m above sea level, on the mountain range of Tymfi. According to the legend, it owes its name to a dragon, which is believed to have found its natural habitat within this lake.

The Guildhall in London was built 1411-1440 in gothic style and is Grade I Listed. It's still the ceremonial and administrative centre of the City of London. There has been a Guidhall on this site since at least 1128, and it's built over London's Roman amphitheatre, the remains of which can be visited. It also has the largest medieval crypts in London, and an art gallery.

Added to and repaired down the centuries, surviving the Great Fire and the Blitz, the Guildhall is a great place to visit in the City.

The Great Bridestones in Todmorden in west yorkshire UK

Close to the Long Causeway and just east of Todmorden, West Yorkshire, are the Great Bridestones, outcrops of millstone grit rocks and boulders which are ½ a mile long. Amongst these rocky outcrops are a number of odd-shaped formations that have been caused by weather-related erosion over thousands, if not millions of years.

The Basilica Cistern (Turkish: Yerebatan Sarnıcı – "Cistern Sinking Into Ground"), is the largest of several hundred ancient cisterns that lie beneath the city of Istanbul (formerly Constantinople), Turkey. The cistern, located 500 feet (150 m) southwest of the Hagia Sophia on the historical peninsula of Sarayburnu, was built in the 6th century during the reign of Byzantine Emperor Justinian I.
