The convent and church of Santa Clara, founded in 1596, located in the historic centre of Quito, stands out for its Baroque style. The church has no tower and the square cloister consists of arches resting on octagonal pillars.

Wikipedia: Statues of twelve yaksha (or giants) guard six of the temple's gates along three sides of the wall (all sides except the north). The giants are characters from the Ramakien epic, each distinguished by their skin color and crowns. Each giant is about 5 meters (16 ft) tall, all clenching a mace or gada in front of them.
The common darter is a small, narrow-bodied dragonfly which is on the wing from the end of June right through to October, or even November in a warm autumn. This is a very common dragonfly, breeding in all sorts of waterbodies from ponds and ditches to rivers and lakes. As their name suggests, common darters dart forward suddenly from a hovering position to catch their insect-prey. They then take their catch to a favoured perch to eat it.
Male common darters are bright red while the females and immature adults are golden-brown. There are several similar-looking red darters which can be very difficult to tell apart.

The Hurlers stone circles are a group of 3 stone circles on Bodmin `Moor, Cornwall.
The name "Hurlers" derives from a legend, in which men were playing Cornish hurling on a Sunday and were magically transformed into stones as punishment.

The big hand makes all of your favourite things
Like all your dreams go small
And all your friends run away
Until your memories fail
And the words don't fit
But the way the big hand smiles
You just won't care about it
The big hand makes all of your favourite things
Like all your days run out
And all your hopes disappear
And your smiles just stop
And your eyes go dead
And the shadows start to crawl
In the back of your head
But when the big hand speaks
It's like fireworks and heaven
So you listen
Don't think
And wish for nothing at all
And when the big hand sings
It's like fireworks and friends
Leaving alone i'm not
Leaving alone
Leaving alone i'll never
Leave alone again
So when the big hand holds up all your favourite things
And with a touch like glass
Starts to squeeze
You don't ask
"why me?"
You just slip to the floor
Just slip to your knees
But when the big hand speaks
It's like fireworks and heaven
So you listen
Don't think
And wish for nothing at all
And when the big hand sings
It's like fireworks and friends
Leaving alone i'm not
Leaving alone
Never leaving alone
Leaving alone i'm not
Leaving alone
Leaving alone
I'm not leaving alone again

The Impact Of The Highly Improbable
A small number of Black Swans explain almost everything in our world, from the success of ideas and religious, to the dynamics of historical events, to elements of our own personal lives. Ever since we left the Pleistocene the effect of these Black Swans has been increasing. It started accelerating during the industrial revolution, as the world started getting more complicated, while ordinary events, the ones we study and discuss and try to predict from reading newspapers have become increasingly inconsequential. Black Swan logic makes what you don’t know far more relevant than what you do know. – From The Black Swan by Nassim Nicholas Taleb

The Lone Cypress Tree, located along the scenic 17-Mile Drive in Monterey and Carmel, is one of the most iconic landmarks on the California coast. This solitary cypress has withstood the test of time, weathering countless storms and braving the salty sea air for over 250 years.
The tree is believed to have sprouted sometime in the early 1770s, making it one of the oldest living things in the area. Its unique location on a rocky outcropping, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, has made it a popular subject for photographs, paintings, and even logos for the Pebble Beach Company.
The Lone Cypress Tree has become a symbol of resilience and perseverance, standing strong despite the challenges of its harsh environment. It has even survived attempts to remove it from its precarious perch. In the 1940s, the tree was propped up with cables to prevent it from falling into the ocean, and in the 1980s, a replacement tree was planted nearby in case the original finally succumbed to the elements.
But despite its fame and popularity, the Lone Cypress Tree is still a living thing that requires care and attention. In recent years, the tree has faced a number of health challenges, including the effects of climate change and invasive pests. The Pebble Beach Company has taken steps to protect and preserve the tree, including limiting public access to the area around it and implementing conservation measures.
Visitors can still enjoy the breathtaking views of the Lone Cypress Tree from designated lookout points along the 17-Mile Drive. The scenic drive, which winds along the coast and through the Del Monte Forest, is a popular attraction for tourists and locals alike. In addition to the Lone Cypress Tree, the drive offers stunning views of rugged coastline, picturesque beaches, and luxurious mansions. The Lone Cypress Tree, located along the scenic 17-Mile Drive in Monterey and Carmel, is one of the most iconic landmarks on the California coast. The Sun was slowly disappearing... saying goodbye to the day but not without leaving a present for the fading Moon...
Little bits of light were dripping into the water turning it into a golden river... a breadcrumb trail for the Moon to follow and return...
The Sun longed for the old friend from a time long forgotten...
Soon clouds were turning pink promising sweet dreams...
Only the crane stood tall, rusted and proud... It resembled a giant sentinel that protects the riverbank from what lurks into the dark...
What do the shadows hide?...

"One last song?" he asked quietly ....
"Sure" she said.....
As she played, he opened his eyes for the last time before smiling faintly ....she glanced at him, trying to keep the moment in her heart....and then he slowly drifted off and left.....no more pain....

Wikipedia: The Golden Buddha, officially titled Phra Phuttha Maha Suwanna Patimakon, commonly known in Thai as Phra Sukhothai Traimit, is a gold Maravijaya Attitude seated Buddharupa statue, with a weight of 5.5 tons (5,500 kilograms). It is located in the temple of Wat Traimit, Bangkok, Thailand. At one point in its history the statue was covered with a layer of stucco and colored glass to conceal its true value, and it remained in this condition for almost 200 years, ending up as what was then a pagoda of minor significance. During relocation of the statue in 1955, the plaster was chipped off and the gold revealed.
The origins of this statue are uncertain. It is made in the Sukhothai Dynasty style of the 13th–14th centuries, though it could have been made after that time. The head of the statue is egg-shaped, which indicates its origin in the Sukhothai period. Given that Sukothai art had Indian influences and metal figures of the Buddha made in India used to be taken to various countries mostly during the Pala period.

The Hogsteinen fyr is a lighthouse on the island Godøy on the west coast of Norway in the municipality of Giske in Møre og Romsdal.
The beacon consists of a white brick tower at the end of a long pier stone. The 11m high brick lighthouse was built in 1857 decommissioned and replaced with a cast-iron lighthouse.
The white lighthouse is still an important landmark in the busy channel between Godøy and Ålesund.
Bricks are a rarely used building material in Norway. Therefore, the Hogsteinen was placed fyr conservation.
