Ex-WP 3557 GP40-2 UP 9991 and ex-MP 699 GP38-2 switch by the Rosboro lumber mill in Springfield. The engineer appears to be blowing on his hand, which would make sense as it was about 20 degrees.

I couldn't tell what model this switcher is but it serves the Cargill grain elevator complex in Gilman, Illinois, adjacent to the Chicago Subdivision of Canadian National.

Ex Conrail unit switches industry in Lavonia

An early evening desert thunderstorm brews in the distance as a set of Trona EMD's go about some switching moves at the UP interchange in Searles before returning home well after dark.

This really weird formation caught my eye...first it was going to the right then it switched, Lol to the left....I'm sure there is some logical scientific answer but I call it, switch.

The tracks and switches are many in the Strasburg Railroad's yards. The oldest continuously operating railroad in the western hemisphere still has business a booming, and not just for scenic railroad rides. They also have revenue freight, as well as a massive restoration operation which services MANY other railroads in the US, and I wouldn't doubt for other countries as well. It's really a great place to visit, and there's always the PA Railroad Museum right across the street, which has a PILE of historic railroad equipment and engines.

I took this shot during a visit to Strasburg in 2013. I just recently decided to look back through my old shots to see if I had any hidden gems stored away.

Train of the Day

A pair of EMD end-cab switchers owned by the Luzerne & Susquehanna are seen pulling tank cars from the Reading & Northern interchange at Pittston to an unloading facility at Avoca. Out of all the rail operations in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area, the L&S is by far the hardest to track down and requires some luck and good timing. They are actually operating on Reading & Northern rails here, on what was once the Lehigh Valley's main line between Buffalo and points east.

Since Emmett got a new body it freed up his cobbled together spray painted body for my new Jasper and it’s nice having a Jasper who can wear his default clothing lol.

The Köf III pulls an empty out of the Bauknecht warehouse. Due to the tight curve radius they can only take one car at a time down this segment of the spur.
