Tedybear made for Anita's daughter :-).

I made this for Shaebay for the latest Phat Quarter embroidery swap, which was themed "music." Shae and I once had a fleeting side conversation about Guru Guru, who is a character from the Legend of Zelda games who plays a music box (some sort of grinder box). In "Ocarina of Time" he teaches you (Link) the Song of Storms which is also the tune that he endlessly plays because it moves the bell of his instrument in circles and also powers the windmill where he is found. I used an image that I found online of the character and then drew (and stitched) the keys to play the song coming in a spiral shape out of the bell of his music machine, because the character makes a comment about how he loves things going "around, around."

I sent it to shae and it turns out that she has nearly this exact same thing as a tattoo!! I had no idea! Such a fun and funny coincidence!

My partner likes a kind of Pennsylvania Dutch, folk art style. I tried to paint her a folksy angel.

I'm not sure if it is Steve's beautifully tumble-polished specimens, or his beauty of a wife, Leslie, holding the attention of a couple of visitors at our swap event.

There was a Philadelphia Print Swap Party on Friday night - and what a fantastic time it was. :)

BIG THANKS to our co-hosts Audrey Gray and Addie (Miss Plum) for organizing the party and making it all happen. You did such a great job!

Thanks also to David, who took care of the music and Andi and Geoff who were kind enough to bring a bunch of professional lighting equipment for all of us to play with.

I was away for the rest of the weekend so I haven't even gone through my pics yet - but I'll hopefully post a bunch tonite/tomorrow.

Everyone was very laid back and generous with their time and talents and photogear. Great to meet you all!

Fabulous Mug Rug package received from Pam {uberstitch}! The snowman rug is for my little boy, and when he saw it he hugged it (even though, I doubt he knew it was for him at 10-months-old!). !Blogged.

Swap-Bot Group APCO: Bird swap.

Finally, some action! This one is re-drawn, albeit roughly, to full size. So partner, any thoughts?

I'm going to be trying out a couple of techniques tomorrow for putting it together.

a pink frame and lolly.

...a wee swap with Patty!

Thank you, dear! xox

I just returned from a week-long camping trip along the California coast in our new-to-us tent trailer. It was loads of fun! We experienced lots of beauty and had a great time, though it turns out camping is not quite so relaxing when you have a wee one on the verge of toddlerhood crawling through the campsite dirt-trolling for old cigarette butts and such to put in her mouth. She reminded me of Pig-Pen in her little cloud of dust :)

Just before leaving on our trip, this BEAUTY of a dress showed up on my doorstep all the way from Australia. The lovely and stylish Skye (aka Skylark and Son) thrifted it for me along with the gorgeous matching pendant and many other goodies as part of a swap we did. When I got back, I was so glad it was still warm enough to wear it!

Thanks so much for everything Skye, you were such fun to swap with!!!

Dress and purple rose pendant: swap gift, thrifted by Skye <3

Chain: thrifted

Chinese slippers: second hand, Simply Chic Consignment

I’m going to pretend to forget about the often remixed purple flower hair-clip so that this will count as 100% thrifted ;)

More swap details (including another awesome dress) blogged here.

Swap package for my partner in the Vintage Tea Room swap. We were supposed to send vintage teacups, but I wanted something with purple for my partner (one of her favorite colors) and I couldn't find one I liked. I checked with her ahead of time and she said a new one would be fine, so I sent this one I found in a little gallery of local handmade items (in Perrysburg, OH). Also included are: a new brand of Earl Grey for her to try, a tin for her to carry a few PG Tips bags with her wherever she goes, notecards made from a stamp I carved, and a hand-carved teapot stamp.

Using Penny’s tutorial sewtakeahike.typepad.com/sewtakeahike/2010/05/linen-napki... for linen napkins, I crafted this identical set with Heather Bailey’s Pop Garden Ivory Sway and natural linen. This fabric captures every color my partner yearns for....could it be you?

Sneak peak for the mug rug swap. My girlfriend is out of town and said we could use you Long arm machine. So for fun I put this little 6 x 9 mug rug. When the cat is away the mice will play, and we will.

I hope me partner will like it.
