Rain or Shine- Bring a friend or family member to our Festival de Bicicletas (Bicycle Festival) at Buena Vista Horace Mann School! We have a great rain plan. Remember the joy or riding a bike as a child? Want to share that with a friend or family member? Join us on Saturday, March 17th in the Mission District for an English and Spanish bilingual Bicycle Festival! Together with Buena Vista Horace Mann (Spanish Immersion) K-8 School, YBIKE will be giving away 50 free helmets, we will be teaching people of all ages to ride, enjoying pedal powered smoothie drinks, raffling off great prizes and bikes built by Mission High School Bike Club members, and thanks to Sports Basements running a Bicycle Doctor booth for free bicycle check-up and minor adjustments. Is your child's bike that's too small or do you have a bike that's not getting the use and love it deserves? Come to our Community Bike Swap Event from 10am-12pm and exchange that ride for a different one or donate it to a family that will put it to good use (please bring complete bikes only). YBIKE will have 25 bicycles available for loan during the event and we will also be running our "On Road with Your Child" Family Biking Course. RSVP here for On Road with Your Family class, Bike Swap or Learn to Ride. Register at www.sfbike.org/family_class

I am probably on glue here. I don't think I've ever sewn this much in a year let alone 2ish months.
I have almost all the fabric, I need a couple knit solids. It's all pink. They will be made in size 128 for an 8 year old. They are "young" patterns for the most part, but she's a "young" 8 year old IYKWIM.
Some of it is rather summery, I am going to make those items first so she can get the most use out of them. She's inherited my husband's "hot all the time" gene though, she rarely wears long sleeve shirts or sweaters (and we live in Canada, lol). I suck at pants so I went with more skirts.
LOOK AT THIS AMAZING BREAKFAST SET! Sorry, I don't mean to shout, I'm just SO EXCITED! Every piece is just PERFECT. Thank you, thank you, thank you my secret bunny!
Gracias nuevamente Sole!
How fun this this!!!???!! I'd had flickr friends before who'd gone to meet up and found the person they were meeting to be their partner in some swap or another, handing them their swap package in person. I always thought that would be fun. And it was! Especially since the package contained this wonderful bag that Jackie made!
I'd secretly hoped it might be for me, since I'd asked for a bag in the swap. Not to mention the pile of fun-colored zippers and the big (to me with my collection of Heather Ross scraps) cuts of Munki Munki pj's. I didn't have any of these (and had never even seen one of them before!) and am so excited to use them for something special.
I wish all of my HR were neatly kept in one place so I could take a photo of my current collection. Maybe I'll have to work on that. But then I might be less likely to use it in projects (right now the scraps are in a special little box and anything bigger is mixed in with the general fabric population, sorted by color).
Thank you Jackie! Such a fun and thoughtful gift to find on our fun trip!

Give me a few minutes to post the rules and regs and the sign-up link, but we're gearing up for the as-promised April edition of the Scrappy Mug Rug Swap!
Sign-ups will only be open for 5 days. Partners will be given out in about a week from now. Shipment of mug rug will be by the end of May at the latest. Sooner for international.
Stay tuned for more details....
Second in a series of postcard swaps with my friends from Paper Cowgirl Art Retreats--this time, with an "Orient" theme.
I chose "Most Exotic China" as my theme since my scrap boxes contain more Japanese ephemera--with each of these postcards, I'm trying to think a little bit out of the box.
I used joss papers, fortune cookie fortunes, and New Year's money envelopes, along with a vintage Chinese playing card and a vintage coin. Decorations were added with water colors, embossing inks and Tim Holtz Distress inks using a technique I saw on one of his videos.
I continued with the "Happi Travel Ltd." story, and enclosed a "token" that could bring the bearer "good fortune and health and luck". I used descriptive wording lifted, practically verbatim, from files copied from actual eBay listings for "authentic Chinese antiquities". I have a file called "Welcome to my eBay!" when I dump snippets I find!
I hope my swap partner enjoyed the card as much as I did making it!
I gave Nattie the postcard for her room, she didn't have anything in there yet.
(well except for all her toys, can you say spoilt)
