As an Asperger mum who is the lone carer for my autistic son, Howard
(55), we wish to download our photo to support Gary McKinnon. Because
of Howard's autism he has fallen foul of the law in the past, although
completely inocent of wrong-doing. So many do not understand autism,
including some police.
We have already sent letters and e-mails of support about Gary and had
replies from M.Ps., though this seems not to have helped unfortunately.
SANDY — The 85th Civil Support Team assisted local authorities monitor air quality due to a fire Monday morning at Fur Breeders Agricultural Cooperative, 8550 S. and 700 West.
The building contained ammonia and other chemicals, forcing authorities to evacuate nearby residents and block access to nearby roads.
The 85th CST, comprised of both Army and Air Force personnel, monitored the area for unsafe levels of ammonia and other chemical as the firefighters worked to put out the blaze.

On the 6th day of our unsupported adventure (which isn't entirely true, considering the amazing support of the tea house infrastructure along the trail), we trekked from MBC to the Annapurna Base Camp. Climbing another 1,200 feet when you're already at 12,100 (and live at sea level) is a long and slow endeavor. The world up there was white with snow, which intensified the sun. I started off with just my tights and gaiters, knowing I'd have to strip off layers the further we went. My hiking poles became the supports for my numerous rest breaks. We steadily made our way to ABC, where the mountains embraced us and dazzled us. Even the night sky revealed its dark expanse and bright stars, with the moon illuminating the mountains.

Dave has crafted the whorl of this elegant Tibetan support spindle from myrtlewood burl and the shaft is walnut. He has added oak leaves around the whorl, and they are also on the matching support bowl. The length of this spindle is 11 1/2 inches, and the weight is 50 grams.
Our ceramic bowl measures 1 3/4 inches in diameter, and the gorgeous myrtlewood wood base is 2 3/4 inches in diameter. Cork has been added to the bottom of this bowl to keep the wood from scratching other hard surfaces

A huge crowd - reportedly the largest ever for Palestine in the UK - again gathered in London (and in other cities across the UK and around the world) to protest the ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza. Organised by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Stop the War, Friends of al-Aqsa, CND, and others, the march started outside BBC HQ, in Portland Place, and headed via the US Embassy to Hyde Park.

Passato e fururo si incontrano e si incrociano al PAN per raccontare l'evoluzione dei confini tradizionali della cultura, attraverso il supporto delle nuove tecnologie, e per esprimere modelli di fruizione innovativi. Contenitore di un'indagine che intende raccogliere e descrivere il cambiamento necessario della storia, alla conquista di nuove identità compatibili con le necessità contingenti, la mostra Tracce nel futuro getta un ponte tra tradizione e contemporaneo, poli opposti di una tensione continua che ha spinto, in questo ultimo secolo, i cambiamento dei mezzi espressivi ad una velocità mai raggiunta.
Osservatorio privilegiato l'Oriente, terra dalle differenti identità culturali per antonomasia, che ne costituiscono l'anima multipla e universale, arricchita di civiltà incrociate, dove il passato costituisce da sempre la piattaforma indispensabile per tracciare forme e segni nuovi per il futuro.
E' da questi che arriva l'invito a relazionare l'oggio con ieri, prendendo coscienza che ul passato è la basilare premessa per il futuro che si vuole costruire, e suggerendo, se mai ce ne fosse bisogno, l'importanza della tradizione, che ci mostra come cambiano e come devono cambiare le nostre idee, se vogliamo che il nostro passato abbia un futuro, motore delle nostre vite e della storia dell'umanità tutta.
Agli occhi di chi osserva l'arduo compito di decifrare il messaggio e, allo stesso tempo, di valutare le conseguenze, anche più estreme, a cui questo cammino conduce. Una delle più profonde contraddizioni dell'epoca in cui viviamo risiede, infatti, proprio nella conservazione e nell'evoluzione del passato.
Se da un lato lo sviluppo tecnologico ci mette a disposizione straordinari strumenti di conservazione dei beni artistici e culturali, dall'altro, paradossalmente, proprio tali strumenti possono essere fonte di distruzione della nostra civiltà.
Ciò sollecita una riflessione che dovrà spaziare dalla sperimentazione delle più innovative tecnologie digitali per la conservazione, valorizzazione e messa in rete dei beni culturali, alle modalità di costruzione e ridefinizione delle identità collettive attraverso new media e produzioni culturali di diversa natura, dalle arti performative tradizionali alla digital art, per finire sui grandi temi della mediazione tra culture, della tolleranza e della pace.
Ma questa, è un'altra sfida.
