This cutout can be found at the Trading Post, KS rest area along US Highway 69, 30 miles (48km) north of Fort Scott, KS. Made of 1/4 inch (64mm) steel plate, it commemorates the Frontier Military Road, which ran from Fort Snelling, MN, through Fort Scott to Fort Jessup, LA. At the time the road was established (1830s - 1840s), it was meant to be permanent. Its purpose was to allow easy movement of troops between forts and to keep the peace between settlers east of the line and the Indians to the west.

El Matador, Malibu
This is my favorite beach in the Los Angeles area, I go there often to take sunset photos. You will find a lot of photos taken in Malibu in my Los Angeles book! If you want to get a copy you can come to my book signing on the 25th at the Barnes & Noble at the Grove in Los Angeles! I am very excited!
Enjoying the two sure signs of the approach of autumn - an early sunset and extensive layer cloud - as we slowly glide out of a large cloud formation above the Swiss Alps. Once again not a bad way to end a flying day!
Made it out to the lake this week. Not many clouds on this night so I decided to play with the exposure and dynamic range on my new Sony A7RII. Also wanted to put my new 70-200 F4 G OSS lens to the test. A really sharp lens. I also remembered my "OFF" so I could keep the mosquitoes at bay.
