I wasn't quite sure what last night was going to produce but went out anyway & pleased I did. The setting sun produced some nice colours & side lighting on the cathedral walls.

Santiago, Chile must be one of the few places where you can climb a 1600m.a.s.m.l. hill placed in the middle of the capital, have a 7º Richter earthquake at the top and enjoy of a sunset reflected in the mountains in the the same evening haha. Greetings from Chile!

I've been browsing flickr for a long time. My account has been dormant but I've always come back. Especially to be inspired!
And so it begins, and begins quite beautifully, as a deck of altocumulus at 14,000 feet streams in from the northwest, making for a colorful sunset this evening. This is the leading edge of what is very likely to be a nasty winter storm for the midwest. Until all that icy fun on Sunday, we are blessed with a little color this evening. If I can get out of the driveway Sunday, you bet I'll be out playing in it.

I spent several days in Nicaragua in early February. While at Montelimar Beach Resort, I made an effort to capture the sunset each night. On this night we had a very dramatic sky.

Enjoyed waiting for the sun to light up this nice pancake lenticular cloud. Nature's fireworks!
"Lenticular clouds get their name from the fact that they're shaped like a lens or a saucer. This is why they're also sometimes called “flying saucer clouds" and sometimes mistaken for UFOs. Some other nicknames for lenticular clouds include “cloudships," “clouds of heaven" and “lennies." They also have a fancy scientific name: Altocumulus lenticularis."

It looks like the chimney is on it's way out. I noticed this evening that it's got a chunk out of the top. Expect it will be pulled down anyday now (making way for a new housing development). See photo from last month in comments.

Rather dramatic sunset, left and right angry clouds from really bad weather and in between a gap for some rays.
