While I was in Australia, I had the opportunity to go on a sailing trip to the island Aussie people call "Straddie". This is the sunset seen from my boat.

The rare phenomenon of rain has found its way to San Diego and with that comes some pretty majestic sunsets.
We went to photograph the sunset at lake Pilvijärvi in Sipoo, Finland.
While waiting for the sun to set and hoping for more clouds and colours to come into my first composition, I set up the camera and waited.
The clouds never came, and the sun was already under the horizon, so I decided to get closer to the lake and try something different.
I was happy with the new composition, and took out some filters.
I got the sky and the lake in balance with a 0.3 medium graduated filter, and then slided on the 10 stop ND-filter.
I calculated the exposure to be around 13 minutes with the filters, set the camera and the remote on bulb, and started exposing.
While waiting for the exposure to finish, I probably killed about a thousand mosquitoes. The other thousand I did not manage to kill, so they made sure I was not getting the picture for free.
In the end I got what I wanted, something different. A relaxing mellow image, and a new red and bumpy looks.

Tonight's sunset at The Bend Area. First shot posting using my new 10 stop Hoya filter. I like how the longer exposure smoothed out my water.
Spectacular sunset, taken from the Mamore Lodge overlooking Kinlochleven.
Bravo for film - this was taken using a Pentax 35mm SLR with subsequent digitisation by the local processing shop.
Probably the best sunset i've ever seen and photographed! This one happened after gray, rainy weather all day long.
