Thank you to Scott Gorman Photography for my (last minute) studio booking today. I was asked yesterday for a head shot for a particular website, and for it to be provided before the weekend if possible - cue utter panic! I'm definitely much more comfortable on the other side of the camera!
Thanks again Scott - I owe you one!
(Trust me - any of the ones where I was smiling looked, odd!)
Although he had a tricky subject matter to shoot today, he is super talented:

Self portrait shot in the studio using a west facing window and a reflector. The clue to the title is on the wall of the studio. The latest in a series that started in 2010.

Taken during a temporary studio shoot put on by the Cincinnati Camera and Photography Club Meetup Group held at the Fernald Nature Preserve near Ross, Ohio just outside of Cincinnati.
Our group set up four different temporary studios where we took turns shooting a group of around 12 cosplayers in a variety of costumes. We are very fortunate to have such a great and active Meetup group in the Cincinnati area as well as so many willing subjects to shoot.
FlashDisc arrived just as I was heading out to a shoot so I had to try it out. I bought 2 but these were all done with a single Yongnuo 560 III into the flash disc on 1/2 in front and slightly above the model. I usually shoot all my portfolio/model agency work with a 22" beauty dish so that's what I had in mind as I tested this out. Bottom line...love it. Easier and cheaper than a beauty dish set up and love the final result.
Geronimo (1829-1909), Apache chief who led opposition to the U.S. policy to relocate his people on reservations. His determination has endured him as an icon to all peoples. Imprisoned in Florida for awhile after his surrender, he lived his later life as a celebrity at Ft. Sill, OK. Contrary to popular belief, he was never confined there.
For a good biography on Geronimo visit publicdomainreview.org/2011/08/29/geronimo-the-warrior/ I read his little autobiography which was dictated to the superintendent of schools in Lawton, OK. I was a student at the University of Oklahoma, where it is housed in the Bass Collection. Originals may be read there, but not checked out.
In a time when nature and well-being are seen as ideals to strive for, it's hard not to be drawn to them, yet the pressure to follow through can feel overwhelming. The image reflects an internal struggle—between desire and inertia—where the urge for change exists, but taking the next step remains just out of reach. The lilies, symbols of purity and renewal, contrast with stillness, embodying the tension between aspiration and hesitation.
