Taken during a temporary studio shoot put on by the Cincinnati Camera and Photography Club Meetup Group held at the Fernald Nature Preserve near Ross, Ohio just outside of Cincinnati.

Our group set up four different temporary studios where we took turns shooting a group of around 12 cosplayers in a variety of costumes. We are very fortunate to have such a great and active Meetup group in the Cincinnati area as well as so many willing subjects to shoot.

Distractions are taken care of when you choose nothing else but the light. Shot at SPS Kalra Sir’s workshop at his Noida Studio.

This year, I joined a local photography guild to force myself into trying things that I have no idea how to do!

Like taking studio portraits of a model!

Last night the club held an in-studio session with a model named Sarah Van Der Valk. Thankfully the much more experienced members of the club know how to set up lights, because I have no idea!

Over two hours, we all took turns photographing Sarah in three different scenarios and outfits, the lights were set up for us and we figured out our camera settings.

So, here is my first official attempt at in-studio model portraits using a combination of flash and constant light.

Thanks The Latow Photographers Guild and Sarah van der Valk

Attempted some arty studio stuff with a friend a couple weeks ago. Thanks, K, for letting me post.

Thank you to Scott Gorman Photography for my (last minute) studio booking today. I was asked yesterday for a head shot for a particular website, and for it to be provided before the weekend if possible - cue utter panic! I'm definitely much more comfortable on the other side of the camera!

Thanks again Scott - I owe you one!

(Trust me - any of the ones where I was smiling looked, odd!)

Although he had a tricky subject matter to shoot today, he is super talented:

On a cold and windy fall day, Kati joined me for the first shoot in my new studio.
