I had a 'photo shoot' afternoon with my friend's dog, Strider recently. The pics were for a doggy profile in The Orange Photo News, it was a fun afternoon as you can see.

Female water striders seem to try to prevent males from mating with them. This female has flipped onto its back, and managed to escape from the male.
I assume this behaviour has evolved so that only the strong males get to mate.

Playing with macro and my extension tubes again. Went out in my backyard where there's a little stream and tried to get some close up shots of water striders. They don't stay still for you, so you kind of have to wait and shoot a lot. I did get a couple shots in focus but I liked this one best. I like how you can see the water tension on their legs. Again, it's pretty cool seeing this macro world close up so I'm definitely enjoying this little adventure into the world benieth us.
