So much to unpack here. With COVID-19 essentially shutting down campuses all across America and the world, there are few normal days to be had. I have been going into the office a few times just to make sure that things are still standing. Most of my work is at home. But the one part of my life that is sadly missing at home are the squirrels. I normally use it as a social exercise - handing out peanuts to strangers so they can feed the squirrels. That part is gone in the world of social distancing. I keep at least enough room for the Holy Spirit to drive a car between me and anyone I am with. On my recent day in the office (Thursday March 19th, 2020), I walked around just a bit. On the sad side, I saw a squirrel on the Diag who was either sick, fallen, or had been attacked, struggling to drink water and eat. I did see one - who might have been a momma - living inside Michele Oka Doner's 2009 bronze casted statue "Angry Neptune, Salacia and Strider." She seems to have an infected eye - I hope it gets better. I wish the squirrels at my home were nearly this friendly. But in the grand scheme of things - there is so much more to wish for. On April 24th members of Local 2141, as well as members of Alexandria’s 38th Suppression Recruit Class, joined co-worker Monique Jackson-Asante and her family and friends to participate in the MDA’s Stride and Ride event at George Mason University. Local 2141 partnered with GMU’s Phi Kappa Alpha Fraternity to walk on behalf of Monique’s daughter Comfort who suffers from Myasthenia Gravis, a neuromuscular disease that causes muscle fatigue and weakness.

Long days in the booth mean we need a little R&R after hours. We tried to fit inside the Beatles LOVE letters, but not quite enough room. Gotta check out that Circque Du Soleil Show. It is incredible!
Strider has been gone for 6 years now. He was with us for 13 wonderful years. He was one of those amazing pets that we will tell stories about for years and years. He was so gentle, extremely obedient, loved people and other animals. We had 4 Yorkies at the same time, plus many litters of Yorkies. I never heard a cross word from him as he tippy toed around all the little bodies that wanted to be by him.
He also is my hero, as he once saved me from great harm. It's one of those amazing dog stories. We miss you Strider!

Walkers at Ribblehead echo the striding of the viaduct across the valley. The bone-chilling coldness of this day stuck in my mind and prompted the purchase of some insulated over-trousers!
I do not own the rights to these excellent box arts. I took 'em from www.grayskullmuseum.com...and I think Mattel ultimately owns them. They're here for my own personal references. But do enjoy them nonetheless!
