Peanut stayed home on Halloween while his sisters went out Trick-or-Treating. He wanted to finish his report for school. The general topic was the Space Age, and Peanut chose to write about Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the first person to go into outer space when he orbited the earth in 1961. As he did his homework, on the table Peanut had a blue space alien Halloween figure that he had been given as part of Blythe Swap as a sort of inspiration.
When his sisters came home, they brought into Peanut's room candies in the bags they had carried. The large bags were also a gift from their Blythe Swap partner.
Peanut was a bit tired but happy when he finished his homework and reached into the bag for a small piece of candy.
"A sweet end to a productive day," thought Peanut, relaxing at last.
As all events were cancelled for the VE Day Celebrations we stayed home and displayed a couple of our Hillmans on our drive and had afternoon tea in the garden as a family.
Stayed home from work today to recuperate from 16 hour drive from hell yesterday, I managed to sneak a few pictures earlier this morning. I ordered a new lighting system that should be here in like two weeks that will allow me to continue pursuing photography at night (as most of the time I am too busy during the day).

It was one of those days yesterday, a start to the first full week back to work. Never good.
It got to that time of day when I had to decide if I was going out or not, I had pretty much convinced myself to stay home, then I changed my mind with help of a friend who reminded that I was going to meant to be mote Helen this year.
And so I went dancing. It actually turned out a good night, and I was home too late, but I was shattered.
This was when I got back home.
sequoia stayed home sick today. after work, i took him to urgent care and the doctor diagnosed him with bronchiolitis, which explains why he couldn't sleep all night, and why his breathing sounds like darth vader on speed.

For Flickr Friday Group. This weeks theme, "I Stay Home."
Staying home hasn't been an option. The "essential worker" designation has been applied to both of us.
My wife is an RN, and is making the most of a difficult situation. Her current position is in a "rehabilitation/nursing home," which is potentially one of those higher risk places to work. Fortunately, this care facility has so far escaped the fate of other similar establishments across the country where they have not been so blessed.
About 2 weeks prior to California Governor Gavin Newsom's "Stay- at-Home" directive, I became employed as a forklift driver at a cold storage warehouse. The warehouse keeps frozen a wide variety of produce from strawberries, to every part of a cow you can think of (and some I had never thought of). So as part of a team dedicated to keeping the nation fed, I'm too am "essential."
Other than the grocery shopping and going back and forth to work, we are staying home. Our three teenage children haven't been away from the house since March 11th.

28 August 2021. On this 5th day of our holiday we stayed home at our campsite, but behind it was a beautiful forest with all these bright colours and interesting animals.

Staying Home Covid-19 is here and we all have to stay at home to halt the spread of the virus. We photographers are reduced to taking pictures in the house, so here are a few things of interest.
Not Going Out There are those in America who have been on the streets campaigning for the abandonment of lockdown. Driven by piffle spouted by Trump and Fox News, these deluded ones led by donkeys, play Russian Roulette with their lives. Some have died.
We all want to resume going out, but it is not possible yet. On Saturday I will have been in isolation, quarantine if you like, for forty days. It is still not over - it may be another forty or more before gallivanting can be resumed.
First in the Still Life with Beach Towel series.

Saturday, 18 January 2020: our temperature at 10:40 am is -23C (windchill -27C). It may well have been a degree or two colder, earlier. Sunrise is at 8:30 am, sunset at 5:03 pm. We were in a brutal, dangerous deep freeze last weekend and it has continued all this week. Tomorrow, Sunday, is forecast to have a high of -4C (windchill -7C) and, after that, things look like they will improve even more. Temperatures not to mess with at the moment - if you don't absolutely have to go out, be wise and stay home. It amazes me that schools have not closed down. We will all be so relieved when this frigid spell is over. There is now light at the end of the tunnel.
I am adding the description from a previously posted photo taken on the same trip.
"Two days ago, on 16 October 2019, I really did luck out with the weather. Knowing that I am running out of time before the next snowfall happens - we've already had two, one in September and one so far this month - I reckoned it was now or not to make another long drive. The place I wanted to see again was way NE of the city. I had been there only once before, on 29 September 2014, and that was just a brief visit. My daughter and I had arrived there around 4:00 pm after a long day, and I wanted to get back home before it got dark (out of luck), because of poor night vision. Also, having spent the day at two other places plus lots of driving, I was in too much pain to walk around Rowley. I was determined to see everything this visit.
After leaving home at 9:15 am, it took me almost four hours to get there, as I kept stopping to take photos of the clouds and any old barns that I came across. On the return journey, I think I only stopped once and that was to take a few zoomed-in (Focal Length (35mm format) - 1600 mm) photos of a favourite old house. It is so far away, surrounded by rolling hills, that it is barely noticeable. There had been no obvious change over the last five years, which was good to see. It is so decayed that one can't help but wonder how much longer it will remain standing. I could have posted the original image, but I decided to add a touch of filter in post-processing, to bring out a bit more detail. The first time I saw this old house was on 18 July 2016, when my daughter and I did a bit of exploring NE of Calgary. Then, on 17 September 2017, after noticing snowflake icons in the weather forecast for Calgary, I decided I would do a similar drive, but not quite as far this time. It was nice to see it again two days ago.
There is very little information about this house to be found on the Internet, but I will add links to several things I did find, for my own memory and just in case anyone else is interested in the history of this place. So sad to see any old house, barn or shed fall into such decay.

On the drive to my destination, I called in at a small village/hamlet that I had been to with my daughter back in 2014. There was an old building there that was easily photographed from the road, which is what my daughter and I had done. However, for once, I actually knocked on the owner's door and asked if it was OK to photograph her old grain elevator, meaning from the road. However, she very kindly told me to go over to it and take any photos I wanted. This grain elevator is a different style from what one usually thinks of, when 'grain elevator' is mentioned. I like it, and it is quite a fine building.
I am so glad I finally made myself do this drive, despite feeling sick to the stomach at the thought of driving so many kilometres that were unknown to me. Thankfully, I made it without getting lost, without running out of gas, and arriving home at 5:45 pm before it started getting dark. A great day!"
More lapel pins being sold at the local Target store recently. This is one of 3 sets dealing with 2020, social distancing and the virus.
Staying home during this Easter Corona weekend I - finally - had time to make a few lens boards for some of my camera's in need of those since all these camera's (3) came without any lenses and lens boards. Some could be straight and just cut out of pieces of wood, but I wanted also two for my recently acquired A-Pattern camera which needs round boards :-) In total I made 6 boards for 3 camera's: as said the A-Pattern, the British made Eastman and a Thornton Pickard.
Since the mounting rings - especially where they carry more heavy lenses - needed longer screws - I made some boards of two layers: top layer of different kind of Mahogany - closely matching the woos of the camera's - and as backing a piece of beech or oak. The Mahogany was taken from old sheats coming from film plateholders.
I used different hole saws for sawing the round lens boards and for sawing the holes for the mounting rings and lenses.
Further used a straight saw for cutting the rectangular pieces.
In the next picture you find the 6 different lens boards with their lenses mounted.
