The good news is that DST (Daylight STANDARD TIME) has finally kicked back in.
I'm not a moron, and therefore, I reject anyone who dares call a period of 4 months of the year in darkness "Standard Time". No, that's just preposterous.
We're on NORMAL time and that's the way it should stay ALWAYS. You can debate me on that if you want but I'll humble you and make you feel silly.
I digress. Yes, I did compose this so the monument looked like it was blasting off.
Daylight Standard Time got off to a myeh start. Nice that sunrise was 7:22 instead of 6:22, but there was only about 2 minutes of color in the pre-dawn and though the clouds were a solid B, the color disappeared, never to return. Oh... and it was cold. REALLY cold. 18 degrees, cold... and breezy. But not too terrible thanks to handwarmers.
It feels creepy going into the District these days knowing the orange occupation is present. Don't know how often I'll do this, but at the same time, where I live, there's just nowhere else to photograph anything decent within a 35 minute drive, and I've long since given up that life of chasing weather and driving hours for poor weather. If I'm going to get a blah sunrise, I figure it's best it not cost me more than about $4 in gas.

The colour scheme on this car is absolutely exquisite. So often cars of this era are 'standard black' this is truly superb.
Deck Hand from the "Saginaw " being lowered over the side on the Landing Boom as she approaches the Jetty. One Deck Hand has already been lowered and is standing on the Jetty waiting for his help. They tie the 20,000 ton ship up to the dock so she can start loading 22,000 tons of Grain. Note the Bazzillion Canada Geese in the Slip and on the dock moving out of the way.
Can't get enough of the Classics. From the previous Century to the Present the Saginaw has been a Top Earner and still is a Top Earner . Some photos of her yesterday pulling into Thunder Bay and looking for a load of Wheat at Superior Elevator ULC in the Mission Basin. I've added a video of her docking at Superior Elevator unassisted as is usual . I sped up parts of the video to save file size but I returned to normal speed to show my Dream Job when I grow up. A centuries old method of Tie Up that sometimes is a necessity and other times a money saver. She uses all the modern advantages of a ship with her bow thrusters and stern propulsion with rudder to gracefully and silently slide into postion to load . she was being loaded in her aft holds within 30 minutes of arrival. Notice the million Canada Geese (Poopers) that have taken up residence in the slip. If I worked there my wife would make me leave my shoes at work in the parking lot and drive home in my sock feet.
Description
As built the lake freighter was 195.0 m (639 ft 9 in) long overall and 189.9 m (623 ft 0 in) between perpendiculars with a beam of 22.0 m (72 ft 2 in).[1] The ship had a depth of hull of 11.0 m (36 ft 1 in) and a mid-summer draught of 8.0 m (26 ft 3 in).[2] The ship was 12,557 gross register tons (GRT) and 19,070 tons deadweight (DWT) at construction with a capacity of 20,525 tonnes (20,201 long tons; 22,625 short tons).[1][2] Using heavy fuel oil, the vessel was powered by two Foster-Wheeler water tube boilers providing steam to a De Laval cross compound steam turbine driving one shaft rated at 7,000 shaft horsepower (5,200 kW).[2] The ship was designed for the stone trade and is equipped with a 76.20 m (250 ft 0 in) discharge boom that can be swung 120 degrees to port or starboard. The boom is used to unload the vessel's cargo.[2][3]
In 1986 a 1,000 horsepower (750 kW) bow thruster was installed.[4] In 2007, her turbine was replaced by a MaK 6M43C 6-cylinder diesel engine, generating 8,160 brake horsepower (6,080 kW).[2] The vessel's tonnages were adjusted, with the ship being 14,066 gross register tons (GRT) and 19,390 tons deadweight (DWT).

26 Broadway was originally built for Standard Oil; Rockefeller had his office here. (And, long before that, Alexander Hamilton lived at this address.) Carrère & Hastings; Shreeve, Lamb & Blake; 1920–28. The tower portion is inconspicuous from street level, but it doubles the height of the building. The two parts of the building are oriented independently: the facade follows the curve of lower Broadway, whereas the tower follows the uptown street grid so that it matches the rest of the skyline.

The new Ford pick up kinda ruined the photo. Wished an older style truck was parked there instead.

Standing on the Events Field at Beamish Museum is this beautifully restored example of and early post-war British car, which must have looked very impressive at the time and continues to do so today.
The car is a 1952 2088cc Standard Vanguard Phase I saloon, UK registered MXW 781.
The Standard Vanguard was manufactured by the Standard Motor Company of Coventry (UK) from 1947 until 1963, with the model being upgraded to Phase II in 1953. Sadly the Phase II models dispensed with the iconic sweeping rear end of the car and replaced it with a more conventional boot (trunk).

Got this little gal for a nice price, probably because her hair was cut, but she's so pretty otherwise. Barbie is wearing a dress from the Sears Glamor Group collection.

My faction standards for LMG. They might look too sci-fi, but I don't have any other parts I could use to fix this.

The standard outfit and equipment for the members of the Areani.
Wielding straight swords and round shields, their simplistic weapons hold a nasty surprise for those who would turn their backs on justice, and more importantly, on the Prince of Loreos.
Their armor is perfectly designed to allow full freedom of movement, meaning they can run and fight with perfect agility and ease. Their training is the best imaginable to the point where complex maneuvers are instinctive.
