London Transport Piccadilly Line 'Standard Stock' at Northfields depot, on a bright sunny day in around 1958. Other stock in view includes one train of 1938 Stock, and some District Line Q and R Stock, together with what appears to be one set of 1956 Stock on the right. The depot had been built to accommodate 'surface' stock, and was occasionally visited by LT Panniers..

Today (2023) the red and silver stock has all gone, but the depot looks much the same, although there is now a substantial security fence on the left, on the boundary with the main Piccadilly Line tracks.

The Flying Standard in Coventry is not just a pub, it's a historical landmark that celebrates the city's rich automotive heritage. Named after the iconic range of cars produced by the Standard Motor Company, this Wetherspoon pub is a tribute to the innovative spirit of Coventry, once the heart of the British car industry. The pub is located in a prime spot in the city and offers a welcoming atmosphere for both locals and visitors. With a menu that includes real ales, craft beers, and a variety of meals, it's a perfect place to relax and soak in the local culture. The building's history is as rich as the beverages it serves, standing as a reminder of the city's past glories and its ongoing tradition of community and hospitality.

It was also known as 'Priory Gate' building' or Priory Gate offices and formerly H. Samuel. It was built in mock-Tudor style to compliment buildings in Priory Row, in 1938-39.

The landmark Coventry pub has been sold to a private investor for £3.225m. It’s a large pub on the ground floor and two self-contained apartments on the second floor.

The property sits at the heart of the city centre, occupying a prominent corner position opposite New Buildings, by the pedestrian entrance to the Cathedral Quarter which contains many of Coventry’s most popular tourist attractions including Coventry Cathedral, St Mary’s Guildhall and Holy Trinity Church. It is also well placed for the city’s central shopping quarter, opposite Primark and West Orchard Shopping Centre. The property offers 1,131 sq m plus a roof terrace of 64 sq m.

British Railways Standard Class 4MT 2-6-0 76017 drifts down the bank towards Northside Lane foot crossing between Ropley and Alresford during the Mind-Hants Railway/Watercress Line 2020 Autumn Steam Gala.

On the footplate of British Railways Standard 4-6-2 70013 Oliver Cromwell as we backed down into Liverpool Street station with the stock of the Cathedrals Express from Liverpool Street to Norwich.

We are on the Great Eastern Railway 1875 main line & are passing under the bridge which carries the new East London line extension opened in 2010, part of the new London Overground network. It can be seen on the previous post at the eastern end of the Bishopsgate station site.

The EL extension runs through what was Bishopsgate station the original GER main line London terminus until 1875 when it became a goods depot. Shoreditch High Street station is off shot to the left.

Regular visitors to Statford-upon-Avon from Stagecoach in Warwickshire's Leamington depot in the early teens were a trio of Northern Counties Palatine-bodied Volvo Olympians, 16598-600 (N518-20 XER), and for which I had a bit of a soft spot.

Whist Stagecoach operated large numbers of Palatine-bodied Olympians, these were not to the Group's standard because they were the last vehicles delivered new to management-owned Cambus in August 2005, before selling their business the following December.

They were a combination of shorter Olympian chassis and the lower Palatine bodywork, instantly recognisable by the more squat windscreen arrangement.

I caught up with 16599 emerging from Wood Street in Stratford in June 2012, looking rather unloved for a seven year old vehicle.

Guess what I'm praying for? I'm praying the day my country says "bye bye" to EU.

I don't believe in their democracy that is based on double standards. Althought they want Turkiye to change it's freedom of speech, they minimize freedom of speech in their own countries :) Well at least for Turks..

I am quite confused by how "democracy" is defined in Christian Europe.

A Turkish political leader (Perinçek) was arreseted in Switzerland last year because he presented documents falsifying the Armenian so called Genocide ! It is against the laws to say "there hasn't been an Armenian Genocide" in Switzerland!

When European parliaments decide whether there had been a genocide or not instead of leaving it to the historians, and historians holding the truth are not allowed to speak in some countries like Switzerland and soon maybe in France, and when Orhan Pamuk can say what ever he wants so that maybe he gets the nobel prize, when British troops help Bush's soldiers kill innocent people so that they have democracy, when PKK terrorists that have killed 35,000 Turks and Kurds, are still being pronounced as rebels (although the NATO an AP added them to their terrorist list), when North Cyprus is being punished for wanting peace and Greek Cyprus is being rewarded for not wanting peace (also in the Annan plan).....

I am very confused of how democracy is understood in Europe, and hope Turkish politicians will stop wanting to enter the union...because the nation doesn't!

So on the 12th of October, the French parliament will carry on a voting. If the parliament accepts the law, a historian who wants to reveal the truth, that there hasn't been a genocide, will be arrested for at least 1 year, and has to pay 45,000 Euro's.

The French parliament will also reveal it's quality, it's humanity and if they are really democratic or not. They will blame our ancestors with such a disgrace just to get the 400,000 votes of the Armenians in France in the next elections.

European democracy..We don't believe in that any more.

CN's unique northern Minnesota captive ore operations are home to the last major fleet of standard cab GE units still in service on any Class 1 railroad. While the rumors of their imminent demise continue, the replacement rebuilt AC446Ms with straight air have been delayed for reasons I don't know. This bodes well for me anyway, because when I'm back up in less than a month the C40-8s will still be reigning supreme.

They are the dominant power on the Iron Range Sub running in sets of three between Minntac and Two Harbors where in this view no less than SEVEN can be seen by the yard office. CN 2040 up front was built by GE in Aug. 1990 as CNW 8541for hauling coal out of the Powder River Basin. Later renumbered and repainted as UP 9063 , she was part of a large group retired by UP more than 24 years ago. The group then served as Citirail lease units for a time until CN purchased the entire fleet between 2010-2012, and later modified a portion of those with straight air for Iron Range ore train service which has explained their unexpected longevity.

From www.visitcumbria.com/evnp/nine-standards

"Nine Standards Rigg takes its name from the line of cairns which stand on the edge of the escarpment just north of the summit. The origin of the nine “stone men” or columnar cairns on the summit, is a mystery, and some of the cairns, which are about 10 feet tall, are now in a perilous state. According to Wainwright, whose Coast to Coast route crosses the fell, they are very ancient and are marked on 18th century maps. One theory is that they were constructed by the Roman army to look like troops from a distance."

This was the first time I had gone to a wannaGoFast event. I went on a Saturday, September 17th, 2016 to the Heaven's Landing Airstrip located in Clayton, Georgia. I want to thank the wannaGoFast organization for providing me a media pass to this event. I would certainly go again in the future. If you never been to such an event, you should go at least once and see what it's really like to see cars going their fastest. This was the first time I had ever seen a Lamborghini go over 200mph in person !

The wannaGoFast organization was founded in order to fill a niche in the motorsports marketplace. Our goal was to create a safe and controlled environment for fellow car enthusiasts to pursue their “Need For Speed” without the restrictions of the standard 1/8 or 1/4 mile drag strip. See what it’s like to hit speeds you’ve only dreamed of without the risk of law enforcement or causing injury to others, while being surrounded by on-site safety personnel.
