Some photos from yesteryear taken with my first digital camera, an 8 MP Sony fixed lens F828.
It was the first 8 megapixel camera I could find.

Canada Goose - Branta Canadensis:
The species name, Canadensis, is a New Latin word meaning "of or from Canada".
These birds feed mainly on plant material and are monogamous for life (staying with one partner and mate in their lifetime).
When feeding in water, they submerge their heads and necks to reach aquatic plants, sometimes tipping forward like a dabbling duck.
Flocks of these birds often feed on leftover cultivated grains in fields, especially during migration or in winter.
During the second year of their lives, Canada Geese (geese is plural for goose; meaning many of them) find themselves a mate.
As mentioned, most couples stay together all of their lives and only if one is killed, then the other may find a new mate.
The female lays 4-8 eggs and both parents protect the nest while the eggs incubate, but the female spends more time at the nest than the male.
During that time, they lose their flight feathers, so that they cannot fly until after their eggs hatch. This period lasts for 25-28 days.
Adult geese are often seen leading their goslings (baby geese) in a line, usually with one parent at the front, and the other at the back of the "parade".
While protecting their young, parents often violently chase away nearby creatures, from small blackbirds to other geese and humans that may approach and they warn by giving off a loud hissing sound.
However, geese may form groups of a number of ’goslings’ (little geese) and a few adults, called crèches.
The young do not leave their parents until after the spring migration, when they return to their North American birthplace.
Canada Geese have been hunted by humans for hundreds of years.
Native American Indians hunted them in the spring migration.
Eskimos hunted them to take advantage of their molt and feathers which left them flightless.
Even early white settlers took advantage of these birds and hunted them for food.
These birds are still being hunted today in the United States and Canada.

"The geology of Mammoth Hot Springs, located in the northwestern section of Yellowstone National Park, is in hyperdrive. In some locations, active springs are building up the terraces and mounds at a rate of two feet per year. That means the spectacle you see today will be very different from the one you see on your next visit.
So what's driving this extraordinary pace of rock formation? Unlike other sections of the park that are primarily composed of volcanic rhyolite, the mammoth area has retained it's ancient deposits of limestone left by a prehistoric inland ocean that once covered this area. When the limestone comes into contact with carbonic acid found in the Mammoth's hot spring water, it dissolves into a solution. When the water reaches the surface, carbon dioxide gas escapes and releases the limestone to be re-deposited as a mineral called travertine - the chalky white rock you see. Travertine, technically called calcium carbonate, is the basic ingredient in TUMS and Rolaids, two popular heartburn remedies. " (Yellowstone Expedition Guide)
Thermophiles (heat-loving microorganisms) create tapestries of color where hot water flows over and along the mounds and terraces of Mammoth. Colorless and yellow thermophiles grow in the hottest water; orange, brown, and green thermophiles thrive in cooler waters. Colors also change with the season.

Spring Woodland – This is an image made one evening last year in the Lake District. It’s a woodland that I stumbled upon at the end of a very good days mountain walking. I was within a few miles of finishing the walk and I noticed a lovely south facing woodland with a carpet of bluebells. This image was made the very next evening. Looks peaceful doesn’t it, well I can tell you behind me was two tired hungry kids been bitten to death by midges and asking me how long till we go! Happy days!
Hi Peepers, I hope you are all well and enjoying the spring sunshine. I hope you like my spring dress? Love Jane xx
It's such a shame I couldn't get that centre stamen sharp as well as the other bits and blur the background at the same time! A better photgrapher than me would no doubt have managed it.
But still, I do like this photo, which is fresh and clean and Springy...
I think this doll is beautiful. Her dress is a recreation of Jason Wu's dress from Spring 2017. It took two years to get as close to the fashion as possible
It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so! ~Mark Twain
Spring-beauties captured in a brief ray of sunlight. That's why I love photography, you can freeze moments such as these. Have a beautiful Sunday Flickr friends!!
¨ It is wonderful to have moments in a sunset with special individuals to which over the years, from the moment you met them, you made a promise and linked them with merely an act as primary as participating in a feast purely practiced for centuries, it becomes a bucolic way to express the peculiarity of our relationships.´

Spring has sprung here in Austin. I love the blue sky reflected in the green leaves.
Thursday night I’m hosting an “artist’s reception” for my current exhibit in Austin. Let me know if you’d like to attend and I can get you the details.

At least it is warm but it still looks like a warm day in February around here. This is the best I could do!
