Well it's March so whoop de doo 😂 currently still feels like January so no sign of Spring just yet unfortunately. I was torn about what photo to go with for the first of usual monthly check-ins, as although I love this dress (which I'd had my eye on for a while) I took some real nice ones last weekend in something else, which I likely prefer. Anyway those can be seen over on my Instagram account (plus loads of other stuff not posted on here) along with more of this particular outfit too. I'm also far more active over there (and a little bit more responsive to messages too) as other than the odd post I'm not really around much on here.

So, I've been wanting to do something something very surrealist looking...and something that looked a lot like a painting, so this is the result.

Kind of inspired by the fact that spring is rapidly approaching and which means warmth which means my creativity will be a bit more "free". Plus I can't wait to be able to shoot some more organic photo's outside with my 50mm f1.8 lens that I got for Christmas!

Harshly backlit with the mid-day sun, I tried to create a softer feel with the spring colors. Nikon 35mm f/1.8G with an ND4 filter shooting into the sun does pretty nicely.

It's almost spring like today, but it's still on the chilly side.

My work from home look, with a new cover-up I purchased from Ebay the other day. I wanted something to keep the sun of a little in the summer or for when I go on holiday abroad.

It is spring. Every year, we photograph it.

Not much to feed on but soon things will green up and hopefully these scrawny deer will regain the weight they lost during our delayed spring here in eastern Ontario.

I know that this pose and this dress are boring you, but I love to wear it and share that I am!

Happy Spring, everyone! As so often happens, this Tulip was already starting to wilt by this morning. My camera lens touched a petal when I was trying to take a macro and off it came. Then a second one fell. Managed to get a few shots with the remaining petals intact. Just loved the flaming streaks on the textured, white petals.

The midwest is beginning to come to life.

Experimenting with 3 shot hdr to get the green right. This worked out fine, I think.

With the shutdown of stadiums and arenas due to the pandemic there are no sports for the fans! This is tough on the players too, as you can well imagine.

I was delighted to stumble across San Francisco Giants catcher, Buster Posey, warming up outside a residence. He was carefully practicing social distancing while honing his catching skills for the upcoming season, whenever that might begin.

PLAY BALL!!

This photo was taken by a Kowa/SIX medium format film camera and a Kowa 1:2.8/85mm lens with a Kowa L1A ø67 filter using Fuji Reala 100 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

New leaves sprouting already but in Autumn colours...go figure!

It really is beautiful out. I love Spring, it's my favorite out of all the seasons. Great for photos also! Snow is neat, but I get sick of it pretty quickly.

"The geology of Mammoth Hot Springs, located in the northwestern section of Yellowstone National Park, is in hyperdrive. In some locations, active springs are building up the terraces and mounds at a rate of two feet per year. That means the spectacle you see today will be very different from the one you see on your next visit.

So what's driving this extraordinary pace of rock formation? Unlike other sections of the park that are primarily composed of volcanic rhyolite, the mammoth area has retained it's ancient deposits of limestone left by a prehistoric inland ocean that once covered this area. When the limestone comes into contact with carbonic acid found in the Mammoth's hot spring water, it dissolves into a solution. When the water reaches the surface, carbon dioxide gas escapes and releases the limestone to be re-deposited as a mineral called travertine - the chalky white rock you see. Travertine, technically called calcium carbonate, is the basic ingredient in TUMS and Rolaids, two popular heartburn remedies. " (Yellowstone Expedition Guide)

Thermophiles (heat-loving microorganisms) create tapestries of color where hot water flows over and along the mounds and terraces of Mammoth. Colorless and yellow thermophiles grow in the hottest water; orange, brown, and green thermophiles thrive in cooler waters. Colors also change with the season.
