Its been nearly three months since I got back from Greenland and until this weekend I haven't had the drive or enthusiam to start shooting again.

But I joined a new group of South Australian photographers at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens and had a really enjoyable day out shooting.

We are deep into Spring here - its getting warmer daily. Here a minah bird feasting on some native plants.

It now being spring at last, little clumps of these Eurphorbia have sprung up around the garden. Their acid yellowy green adds little pools of brightness, particularly in the shade. They may not be as showy as daffodils, but I prefer their subtlety.

happy vernal equinox!

i bought my first bunch of rhubarb in honor of the day. looking forward to all the good stuff spring has to offer in the coming months.

Grand Prismatic Spring is large enough to be a lap pool, about 375 feet across and 125 feet deep, but you would not want to step one toe into the 160-degree (Fahrenheit) water. Steam rises from the vast surface, making it difficult to see across the entire pool all at once. Depending on which way the wind is blowing, the mist can pass right over you as you stand mesmerized on the boardwalk. The white steam rises from a light green and blue pool with a yellow rim, encircled by a red and brown runoff surface. It is a spectacular natural spectrum, illuminated by the millions upon millions of microorganisms that somehow survive in the spring.

My smaller dark pink Magnolia is also having a good spring, covered in blooms.

An erosion channel in the foreground and plowed potato fields in the distance are evident in this image of the high plains between Newdale and Teton Valley, Idaho.

A little taste of Spring time flow in the Adirondacks from this past weekend.

More signs of spring, at Newbold Comyn. This is crab apple blossom, and the trees are completely covered in it, in spite of it being a very gusty day. Observation Hill is in the background.

Not the most colorful songbird, but one of the most reliable, this Song Sparrow (Melospiza melodia) will sing beautifully throughout the spring and summer.

This one seen at Lake St. Clair Metropark, Michigan.

Another sign of spring are these hazel catkins, dispersing their pollen in the breeze. The catkins are male, while the tiny red tufty buds are female apparently, so hazel can fertilise itself.

A lazy Sunday morning during spring, and 786 rests in Harrogate between trips on the 747. Sunny weekend mornings are easily the nicest times to be at work, quiet roads, quiet buses, and plenty of time between trips for some brekkie! Seen here sat outside 'Christies' Bar, with the least flattering side of the Harrogate International Centre in the background.
