Winnebago River - Iowa

I have captured this area many times, but try to exhibit the seasons as they occur . . . it was a beautiful afternoon here in North Iowa!

There were some ladies that tried to go canoeing, but sadly discovered the water level was too low. We need more rain to bring the river up . . .

Sunny spring day in Hällestad,Östergötland

This week has been an active one for the first wave of Warblers to pass through our park. The Yellow Rumped Warbler seems to lead the way every year. Our weather fluctuated between sunny warm days but then back to colder days. This little guy was floofing his feathers to keep warm. Spring buds are just visible in the branches in the background.

This morning on the school run...I had to stop to take this.

I spent a happy lunchtime trying to capture an early Garden Bumblebee with my new lens, but here instead is another lovely Primula, suggesting it wasn't the lens's fault I couldn't catch the Queen...

Spring Snowflake in Paradiestal

It's so hard when you get false spring, to wait for the real thing to get here. So it helps to look at old shots to help you make it.

Swallowtail

Spring is a big problem this year. The long cold and the rain have the effect that the butterflies are not yet present in my garden. A year ago, this tree had been in full bloom for a while - today not at all. So here is a picture from last spring, when it was lovely and warm...

Schwalbenschwanz

Spanish clover

Both fire and rain have hit the Santa Monica Mountains. Both may be responsible for a tremendous number of flower species that have been blooming this spring, many I've never seen before. This is one of those species.
