Spring is a big problem this year. The long cold and the rain have the effect that the butterflies are not yet present in my garden. A year ago, this tree had been in full bloom for a while - today not at all. So here is a picture from last spring, when it was lovely and warm...

Each year I see these I try to figure out a way to capture the beauty of them. I am not convinced that his is the image I am trying to produce and don't feel like I am doing it justice. I felt the same about the images I took this spring.

We have had some amazing weather these past few days. Temperatures reached 28C (82F) on this particular day. Not to shabby for April.
I enjoyed rolling around on the ground in the nearby woods earlier this week, photographing the beautiful lesser celandine punching through the leaf litter. I love the pose of this one, stretching up to catch the light filtering through the trees.
Nature's free bounty and useless extravagance had never appeared so fantastically beautiful as it did this spring. I had an uncomfortable suspicion that Nature had come to reconquer the earth for herself.”

More Snowdrops (Galanthus), of which I think there are at least 50 varieties. These are all from the riverside walk near my home.
Some fresh green spring layers from Tuscany this Easter. The light there is amazing!

The Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park is the largest hot spring in the United States. It is located in the Midway Geyser Basin.
Grand Prismatic Spring was noted by geologists working in the Hayden Geological Survey of 1871, and named by them for its striking coloration. Its colors match the rainbow dispersion of white light by an optical prism: red, orange, yellow, green, and blue.

I was amazed to see these crocuses yesterday in a park when we visited Bournemouth yesterday. It has either poured with rain or been freezing cold for the past month, with nothing but grey skies. Yesterday was our one day of blue skies and sun. The temperature was 8 degrees Celsius (46 degrees Fahrenheit). These little flowers were taking a chance popping their 'heads' out
Had my camera while taking an evening walk close by the lake. A rather green Spring day in Mississippi.
I have three bushes of varying heights of this tiny pink rose - left to itself, it happily climbs to over ten feet. The buds are perfect miniatures and even when fully out the flowers are only about an inch and a half across. What you can't tell from photographs is that they also have a wonderful scent.
