Spring is a few weeks old by now, but summer rains could still be far away. So some flowers cannot wait for that (the rain) and produce flowers from stored underground resources, like this Moraea stricta, also called Bloutulp (Blue Tulip although it is not a tulip, but of Irises family related to Freesias, Gladiolus, and Crocus. There is no energy for leaves yet, they come later,
