You may have heard about Color Splash in Photoshop, here is how it is done. It its actually quite easy to do.
Start with a colorful image. Turn it into a Black and white by making a Gradient Map. Go to the half black, half white circle at the bottom of your Layers palette and click on Gradient Map. Be sure you have the lock removed from the Background or this will not work.
The gradient map comes with a mask on the layer. Click on the mask. Get a soft Brush with 0 hardness, you also may want to drop your brush opacity down from 100% to about 50%. Now when you click on the image, the color comes back. I brought it all back on the face, but the rest of the image, not so much. You can splash color to suit yourself. This may not be the best example but sometimes reducing color can give you a better image.
I finally tried doing some splash photography and had some cards flying through the air. This is the result. Hope you like it.

On our recent mini-trip, we only had one evening in WDW. We decided to stay in Magic Kingdom and around sunset saw a huge buildup of dark clouds. We were hoping for a storm (always wanted to shoot Disney post-rain in the evening), but it stayed pretty far away from the parks. We made a couple attempts to get some shots of it, but nothing was really turning out, so we ate ice cream and just watched it instead. The storm was dying down and I had wanted to get this shot of Splash Mountain for a while, and in the middle of my HDR bracket this gorgeous bolt of lightning came down right behind Chickapin Hill. It was by complete accident, but needless to say I'm pretty happy with the result.

"Splash Dance"... If you have ever watched the cormorant or shag do their rapid wing flaps then you get my drift.
Selfie on this windswept frozen lake. My jacket even puffed up with air from the cold blustery breeze.
Strobist Sundays - splash
Not much time to do a setup today, so I poured a little colored water into my kitchen sink manually using a coffee pot, and blasted across it with a 580EXII with grid at a low setting. I tried s slow shutter speed hoping to get a bit of motion blur and gel-like look to the water under the flash-stopped details.

The effects in the water are from aluminum foil crumpled up. Speedlite 430EX ll from the rear behind frosted glass and Speedlite 580EX ll from the right with red gel. The splash has blue dye and there is green dye in the water.

I love the Disneyland mountain range. They all add their own sense of uniqueness to the park. Splash Mountain is one of my favorites!
The rapids on Torrey Creek. The foreground bokeh provides some interesting foreshadowing for Bokeh Wednesday. If you celebrate, of course.
