Converted to mono as lots of Fungus made colour too difficult to deal with.

não tá dos melhores, mas to treinando!

Decided to learn how to do water drop photography this weekend. What I learned is this: take 200 pictures and maybe one will turn out okay. I'm sure glad I didn't try this stuff back in the film days! (P.S. No Photoshop tricks here, just a regular water drop and a drop of food dye caught at the right moment.)

There is always that person that likes to splash those people that are chillin' in a controlled manner...people floating somewhere between half wet and half dry. I am the chillin' type. So if I get splashed, be prepared to be submarined.

Wave impact with a small protection wall creates an artistical geometry. Yesterday afternoon the sea was very dirty, the colour changed from brown to dark gray, while the cloudy sky had an unnatural electric blue tone.

You're invited to see it Large On Black

My first attempt to do some splash photography.

Getting the background black was the easy part: low ISO, small aperture and fast shutter.

Hard part was the focus and making sure the drop landed on the same spot I focused on. After trying several method I ended up what a Crazy Machines-like contraption made out of a fly swatter, a couple of books and a piece of string 😄

Hardest part however was the timing. As the flash was in HSS, spray and pray wasn't an option as the flash needed to recycle every 1 or 2 photos.

After 500+ photos, I had a couple of photos that stood out.

So....snow this morning and by this afternoon we were without jackets or snow....spring is taunting us....

Tomorrow I'm going to a Blue Bird Recovery program conference. A lot of us in our state monitor blue bird boxes; my area is about six blocks away....only three boxes, but I tend them vigilantly!

Enjoy your weekend..very glad you stopped by....Pat...xo

Splash from the fountain at Big Spring Creek at Cotter , Ar.

I haven't been out with the camera for weeks. However in the music quiz last night, one of those post rain sunsets flamed up outside, it was brief but enough to make me want to get out there again.

The purple heather should be in bloom now, maybe earlier because of the rain. This was last year. How I miss misty sunrises!

I have finally treated myself to a new tripod and have splashed out on a Gitzo deciding that it was more important then a new camera. Can't wait to try it out!

My first experiment with water drops with my new Fuji X-M1.
