I can't resist these little scenes where there is a splash of sunlight on a patch of ground. They are even more appealing when they appear within yards of the front door and don't require any hiking. I may have to add this one to the guide I am writing - The Lazy Photographer's Strathspey... :p
Just noticed three of my pics appearing on visitaviemore.com/onwater ... yay!

BNSF 7928 leads CN 394 through Copetown on what must have been the slowest Eastbound I have ever witnessed getting from Sarnia to Copetown in roughly 6 hours.
been wanting to try this forever....couldn't decide which one to post, so you get both.
sidenote...the cookies are from Trader Joe's European Collection with premium Belgian chocolate and they are amazing...especially with coffee and tea.

Hard landing! Big splash! Thankfully no one was injured. Or maybe this long-billed dowitcher was just bathing.
While the males and females of the species share incubation duty, it's the male that cares for the chicks once they're hatched. No deadbeat dads in this species

Water is a single chemical compound in which one water molecule is composed of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. The formula is H2O.
Water is found in three well-known forms: gas, liquid and solid, or better known as water vapor, liquid water and ice. We can reasonably accurately describe the properties of both steam and ice, but the precise description of liquid water is still a
very big challenge.

This Yellow-headed Blackbird was sitting with dozens of others along the barbed wire fence just watching the traffic pass. The big trucks sent them flying for safer ground.
I last attempted this type of image back in 2012, also in answer to a MM theme ["Water", I think]. I think those efforts were far superior to this time and may have something to do with them being done indoors rather than in the heat of the midday sun on the hottest day of the year so far in the UK!!!!!
I'm also older and my vision is not as good as it once was so this one, [and another contender in my photostream here: www.flickr.com/photos/deepeephoto/35399566895/in/photostr... ] is not as tack sharp as I would have liked. For all of that, I quite like the effect. You can see my set up in the comments below.
HMM to all in the group.
This week in the group, Get Pushed!, I was paired with one of my contacts, the very talented Meshl. She challenged me to do a splash--totally a new thing for me. I followed a tutorial on youtube, by Robert Grant, at Learn My Shot dot com. Didn't even need a flash! Thanks, Michelle, for the push. I would have missed out on the fun!

Pedestrian's umbrella adds a splash of colour while crossing the "zebra" on a dull rainy day on Johnson street in Victoria, B.C. Canada.
Hello flickr friends! Tying out my camera again and had a go with some action shots. Not the best shot ever and the lighting ...well what can I say.....it's the old spotlight again but will have a go at it later when I have some more free time. I am learning some more about my camera.

This was an attempt at photographing motion with slow shutter speeds. A car drives through a puddle and splashes water into the air.
