Decidí hacer otra sesión de splash pero me doy cuenta que si no tengo presión de alguien ya no la hago, así que mejor subí esta foto que es compañera de una que coloqué hace algún tiempo. Creo que ya no tengo mucha paciencia.
This was the scene along the esplanade yesterday! I had to stand well back to catch this splashing, crashing shot or I would have been soaked to the skin!!

After getting a macro lens, I had to try my hand at water splash photos :)
Peaked on Explore #346 for May 08, 2008
The image above is in readiness for some new 'gear' I have coming to enable me to carry out some 'tabletop' techniques and ideas I have. I was prompted by the book I recently purchased on Amazon - ('Tabletop Photography' by Cyrill Harnischmacker - Approx. £8.50p + postage).
I also found a Gavin Hoey instructional video on YouTube so as it was a simple set-up - [it had to be simple - otherwise I wouldn't have tried it ! ;^) ] - I thought let's go for it.
The splashes are none too 'exciting' but as I mentioned, it's just a test-run for the 'real thing'. ;^)
.
Mucho improved on the previous day's pathetic attempts...
I took some advice from fellow Macro Mondayers and followed Sam Foster's example for a set-up.
Only trouble was, using my tripod to suspend the water bag, I then had no alternative but to hand-hold the camera!

Headshot!
High speed photo of a splash of water with a puff of air added at the right time. The puff of air caused the hole in the splash.
Setup - custom made sliding table rig with an air valve arrangement off to the right of the photo. The table triggers a delay via a Stop Shot flash trigger, 3 Nikon speedlight flashes are used. One flash is fired from the trigger, two others are set up in slave mode, firing remotely. In this setup, the flashes were gelled red and yellow off to the right and left. One non-gelled flash is set up under the table to fill the background. The two flashes to the right and left were set to 1/8th power, the center flash was set to 1/128th power. This setup uses a single air nozzle off-axis to strike the splash in the front.
...and when i fly to chase that wish
and wake the puddle glee
they rise up to the dance and swish...
the splashes fly with me .....

Found it a little difficult to catch textures so I fell back to a bit of a splash in Tenerife!

Working on setting up a splash table since the skies haven't cooperated with the telescope stuff I've been wanting to do. I still have some lighting and DOF issues to work out, but this turned out okay for a first run I think.
