This one has a neat story.
I was at a lego exhibition, (I didn't bring anything with me, just helped out my team) and I was at one of the building room, where were a lot of pieces, but many of them weren't ordinary bricks rather more specific pieces and the children were struggling a little bit to build. So I started to build this speederbike out of the pieces I found and they were amazed. In a few minutes time everyone was building speeder bikes and everyone was begging me to build more stuff. So we started jet fighter building competitions, etc and everyone had a great time.
In the end I kept the speeder that sparked all the inspiration.

I was looking at this shot last night and liked it for different reasons. Less delay that the earlier shot.
Nice day of rain. I wanted to go out on a ride, but decided it was a little too wet.
Wimp. I enjoy biking in a misty rain, but driving rain is not much fun.

SPEED IS... when you drive your Subaru so fast, producing a mud-splash that fly several feet in the air and landed several feet away... on your fan’s faces!
Don't mean to offend anyone with this hard hitting image. Such a sad site this morning, this beautiful Mountain Hare had recently been killed. A stark reminder to all of us to reduce speed on country roads.

I went down to Laguna Seca late last month to check out the Speed Ventures track day and Radical Sports car and EXR races. I took a bunch of photos digitally (to be posted shortly), but also brought along a new-to-me old film SLR; a Nikon F-801s. I thought this was supposed to AF with all of my Nikkor lenses, but it wouldn't work for me; so pardon some missed-focus shots; I had to do it manually. If R1 is in the image name, it was taken on Agfa Photo Vista 200; R2 was Ektar 100. Taken with one of the following lenses:
Nikon 24mm f/1.8G
Nikon 50mm f/1.8D
Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II
Nikon 300mm f/2.8 VR I
Most of these could be improved in Lightroom or whatever, and I may do that eventually, but I'm posting these raw scans as-is, because that was the point of shooting the film for me, and I'm spending plenty of time in LR for the digital photos anyway. ^_^
Another speeder to add to the grid. It came together during last weekend's 24 hours of Spa-Francorchamps, a GTWC race that I rather enjoyed. So that's the name.
Engines were the first thing to get built, there's a little breakdown of them at the end of the photostream but it's nothing hugely complex. After that it was the front stabilisers and then I realised I needed to connect those parts to some kind of cockpit.
I ended up with quite an industrial-looking cockpit, using my favourite part again, but inverted this time and with the 4-wide speed champions windscreen on top, which was good to use. I have lots of them.
I'll obtain a couple of 2x2 semicircle tiles and switch them out with the round ones at the front, but aside from that this was just a fun little build that I'm happy enough with. Got a decent amount of Star-Warsy greebling in, so hopefully the racing bulls graphics on the wedges can be excused as Fambaas from Naboo, or some other creature from the lore!

I meant to upload this earlier in the day, the reason I didn't is because I'm already working through speeder number three. This next one is red and certainly not a Ferrari...
First attempt at capturing water splashing out of a glass using high speed photography.
Used make magazine high speed photography controller, custom rolling table and sound trigger. Flash was reflected once and illuminated the back of the set.
Base of glass was problematic so the image was cropped.
August 27, 2018--New York City--Governor Andrew M. Cuomo signs an emergency Executive Order today allowing the operation of speed cameras to operating within New York State, and in particularly in New York City, that will go into effect September 4, 2018 which is one day before most schools open. The executive order permits the New York State. Department of Motor Vehicles to work in conjunction with law enforcement to issue tickets to registered vehicle owners who are caught on speed cameras for alleged speed violations. The Governor is joined by Chief Counsel Alphonso David, NYC Council Speaker Corey Johnson, and Amy Cohen, the founder of Families for Safe Streets.(Kevin Coughlin/State of New York)

Computer crashed, so on the last day, I had to go to the archives
A coworker gave me these today. She told me several times how thick the glass was.
I agreed. And so did the pellet. It is scattered all over the place, but did destroy the bottle (eventually).
I've spent the last week or so moving my high speed setup to a new dedicated location. It works just the same and I now have my workbench back.
So I spent the weekend catching up on a lot of little tasks.
