I just managed to get my camera ready for the Eurostar, as I was walking east of Ashford. Exposure was 1/400, but it would probably better with a slightly slower shutter. I like the way the fence in the foreground is in focus. :)
I am kind of a sucker for these kind of "moment of impact" pictures.
On one level they make me look like I can time things better than I really can. This pictures are more a matter of luck.
On another level, it gives a sort of suspense. You know much more damage is about ready to happen, but not quite yet.
A yellow rubber ball hitting a cylinder of mixed color playdoh.
A retry of an old shot with water absorbing gel. The original had depth of field issues that I took some trouble to address this time.
I also tried loading the pellet in backwards to get a better expansion. You can hear a difference in the impact thwack when the pellet is in backwards.

These boats brought us out to an island outside Pattaya, as there were no good (in my opinion) beaches on the mainland. Or actually, they brought others to the island. We decided to spend a bit more time (and less money) and took the ferry.
I bought some sweet peas a few days ago , shelled them and put them into some clear gelatin, one layer at a time since they float.
The only interesting thing about this shot is the gelatin envelope around the pellet. Maybe I need to make another batch of just gelatin.

They're kind of cool if you take a picture into them...

An officer works the computer in the Medford Police speed enforcement van along I-5 late at night. It's part of an ODOT/MPD work zone enforcement effort to slow drivers through the I-5 Medford Viaduct work zone. Highest speed recorded is 91 MPH in the 40 MPH work zone.

So this was a pretty quick build, it may well be that some kind of racing speeders will form the next display I do. I wanted to try a narrative of sorts with this, starting from a junkyard scrapper, and gradually improving and refining until we get something sleek and advanced.
In terms of the build itself I've tried to go as greebly as I can for exposed engine bits, and fresh off my ADU builds I've put those spoiler parts back to work as intakes. Nothing hugely complicated here, but I'm satisfied with the skeletal appearance and think that it came out alright. Plenty of room to iterate on this.
I was trying to keep it as small as possible, it's about 18ish studs wide and long, so hopefully I'll be able to fit builds of that/similar size into this year's SHIP, which I'm envisioning as something of a mobile home/workshop/garage such as one might find on a Star Wars-inspired racing circuit series.
(I think I just want to build something that looks like a LMH/LMdH prototype racer but in space. Honestly, the Ferrari 499P already looks like a spaceship that just happens to have wheels!)
